The Windows OS Thread - Formerly THE OS for gamers and normies, now sadly ruined by Pajeets

As someone who tinkers with old games from time to time (reverse engineering, modding, cheat engine stuff), I absolutely loathe Defender. Thank God you can override it with MBAM. MBAM has been getting almost as overzealous as Defender the past 3-4 years however.
Again, you're breaking the system. It's meant for the 99% of the population that just wants a computer to internet browse or play games on.

The Malwarebytes override thing is built into Defender, though? The second you install it it lets you set it as the default antivirus provider, effectively disabling Defender. Not sure how that or dicking with old games is breaking the OS. I was just saying how MBAM is way better/less jumpy than Defender, although in recent years it seems to be getting way more overzealous.

Some antivirus software are subscription services. I think there was one that was offered as a free trial on new computers which disabled Defender, and when the trial ended it stopped working but kept Defender disabled.

No. It's just Windows Defender lol. If you buy a subscription for your rig, that's on you.

It also lets me know when Pride Month is, rekindling my hatred of homosexual cultural totalitarianism.
And that's what makes it truly great. I find the pride month shit Microsoft does to be half assed and lazy even compared to other companies. Yet it makes retards seethe that a flag appears on the Taskbar. Which I just say LOL.

Agree with you in this aspect. Linux should strive more to be more inclusive of trans and homosexual ideologies. I am very open to KDE changing it's default colour scheme to that of the gay flag's colour scheme for June. It's not like there would be any opposition to it :feels:

Linux should have the code text script be alternating pink and blue at this point lmao

Wait, what? I use OpenShell so my Win11 taskbar looks like Win10 and my start menu looks like WinXP classic so I don't see this shit. Are you just joking or does Microsoft really put fag flags on your desktop?

I've never seen it, or it's been so insignificant as not to notice. In either case the internet has made this Taskbar flag into a fucking demon.

The most annoying thing is Win11's new memory management autism requires me to replace my cpu with a compatible one.

So I guess its not happening
Because Microsoft really fucking loves to introduce a new framework or API to then abandon and move to the next thing, but they can't then remove it because of muh backwards compatibility. So you end up with a system with layers upon layers upon layers of semi-abandoned code where it's impossible to know if something is actually functional or even needed
It just absolute boggles my mind that some retard comes up with a paging system specifically for windows metro apps when theres already a paging system used for literally everything else.

Who paid for that useless fucking fishing expedition because that would imply windows apps dont use the standard pagefile.

I imagine it went something like this:

2009: We've seen the future, and it's unifying the interface and apps across phone, desktop, laptop, and tablet. This is a chance to start over with a clean slate and do things right this time. We'll eventually retire all that legacy infrastructure as everyone migrates to Metro and touch-driven interfaces.

2013: Oh shit oh fuck everyone hates Windows 8 goddammit goddammit what do we do now fuuuuuck

2015: aaaaaahhh Windows Phone is dead, we built all this shit and now we just have to keep two versions of things around why did we try to start with a clean slate I hate my liiiiiiiife

It took way longer than 2013.

I used to follow Steven Sinofsky's blog and presentations when he was making the ribbon UI for Office 2007 through making Windows 7 so pleasant and onto his work with Windows 8.

The things he talked about with UX for Office made a ton of sense, the ribbon he came up with is genuinely great and way more intuitive than the mess of menus I now deal with in Google Drive and previously used with like Office 2000.

The way he approached fixing Vista to make Win7 was inspired, I ran beta builds and leaked nightly builds up to release and it was just so, so much better than what they had before.

In the end he was huffing his own farts with the ideas for Windows 8. They had no idea what they were doing with tablets despite Microsoft being way ahead of apple in "pen computing" and then later WinXP era tablets. Like seriously booting to a full screen tile interfacing? Removing the Start menu and replacing it with swipey gestures to bring up obscure unlabelled "charms"? The fuck were they thinking.

Even 8.1 didn't resolve the mess they started.

Then of course the pajeet CEO took over, gutted all their QA, and jeeted their engineering base leaving Windows to iteratively get worse for 10 years. Stockholders like him because Azure has taken off, but that was largely thanks to Steve Ballmer's forward thinking of all things.

Did something change?
No it was the preexisting cpu requirements win11 always had that requires CPUs with TPM support I believe. Iunno I remember it causing a bit of a drama in the past because it locked a ton of people actually being able to upgrade to win11 despite ending support for win10 next year.

Makes you wonder what they will do for enterprise support as a lot of those cheap dell workstations certainly won't meet those requirements.

Also you could just not use Metro apps, I never saw the point for them
Same but it boggles my mind that someone designed a seperate paging system just for Metro apps.

Late as all fuck but 365 defender as both an enterprise EDR and its more traditional home edition AV function is built to force itself into passive mode upon another AV/EDR tool being detected on the host. It can still identify if there's some naff shit on your device, it can still alert you as to what's going on, but it doesn't perform remediative actions such as quarantining or blocking PUAs/your particular flavour of malware

Any of you had your pc ruined by pajeets like month ago?
Have been having crash issues pretty much just when browser is open. Not when it is running on background while gaming. Nvidia drivers was first suspect, people reporting having same exact problems since getting them, but now that I have installed older drivers and fucking reinstalled windows... And it still keeps happening. I am starting to smell the shit and suspecting it is actually Windows updates, not Nvidia.

Many, many issues reported in the latest Windows 11 build in recent weeks. Examples:

2 months later, Assassin's Creed Origins is getting pounded with negative Steam reviews because the Windows update that broke it still isn't fixed
Windows 11 24H2 upgrades blocked on some PCs due to audio issues
Windows 11 24H2 is in danger of becoming hated by gamers

Windows 11 build
Well I am on 10. Suspicions getting stronger as uninstalling latest Net frameworks updates has given me longest crash free streak so far.

**Fuck that and I crashed. Back to making theories about reasons. Maybe it is firmware.
