The Writing Thread

My first commercial release went better than expected so I got offers of representation from trad pubs, including one that actually rejected my proposal in like 2022. Thing is that I don't really want to cement myself into trad publishing any more cause I got a pretty stable and decent-paying job since then. I only ever wrote for fun and the whole process of querying for agents and publishing was really only for the fantasy of being a new Stephanie Myer cause you miss every shot you don't take, you know?

ProWritingAid has taken up the fallen crown of Nanowrimo to create their own successor, Novel November. Like so many others have I bet. Scrivener and ElevenReader were major sponsors of Nanowrimo so I figure this will be considered the 'official' continuation.

Nanowrimo had been completely off my radar since it folded and having just finished being balls deep in revision since August, I think I'll finish off a 75% written first draft before October ends and start the next part in November.

I’ve been doing a side project just to refresh my creative drive.

Primarily it’s just making my own “comic book setting” and a cast to fill it out, nothing is probably going to come of it but it’s been a lot of fun, just moving away from that subversive/deconstructive homo shit and focusing on just how cool it would be to have even the most basic powers.

Small update on my end. Writing's still going slow, though again this has more to do with IRL just taking precedence over my hobbies, and it's actually going fairly well otherwise. Ideas are all coming together nicely despite the lack of actual writing progress; got a BIG character design issue worked out last night, only got a little more tweaking left to do before he's done, and believe me when I say I'm having a fun time with it. Likewise, I got the new intro partially lined out; the old one didn't really work so well with the different direction the plot's been going, and while I don't have the new one fully outlined just yet, I'm making a very good amount of progress.

Same! I hope it goes well for you; it's worth it sometimes just to back up and make something fun. Focusing entirely on what's negative and forcing yourself to write it can cause some serious burnout.

Likewise, I dunno, it’s fun, thinking up dumb comic shit like I did when I was a kid but now I can make stuff that isn’t retarded.

Normally I avoid the whole mini-novel worth of “plans” or any projects involving “lore” and “worldbuilding” but I had a lot of fun making my superheroes and their world. Innocent creativity that’s becoming something I’m enjoying, especially with my frustrations with capeshit and making “my” corrections, heroes acting like heroes and actually working to fix our very fucked up world.

That’s how Superman was made, Siegel or Schuster, I forget which one, was mugged and got to thinking of a perfect stranger, who always steps in.

Hello Authors and Writers of Kiwifarms. For several months now I have been kicking around in various forms and permutations a Sci-fi setting/Story outline that I would like to have evaluated and appraised by people who do actual writing for fun and profit. I will probably never actually put this down to paper but I'm simply curious. Is my shit mega gay and retarded or actually kind of cool?

To clarify, many if not at all of the themes of this setting/story framework are inspired by/influenced by and in some cases essentially ripped off from in no particular order
-Warhammer 40k
-Crossed by Garth Ennis (don't click away, be patient, I'm not a fan either)
-Halo
-Starship troopers
-Real life military technology
-And other sources I can't really think of off the top of my head at the moment.

But what really inspired this? Partly ideas I've had for stories about inhuman supersoldiers bred for war descending upon alien civilizations and laying waste to them, but mostly this piece of Warhammer 40k fanart
1760827053407.png

Badass right? I've thought about this image for months. Only thing I'd change is the tank being smaller, more realistic in proportions and armaments and it being on treads. Anyway this image laid the groundwork for an entire Sci-fi setting. Let's get into it

The Universe
The overarching setting is the milky way galaxy, in some permutations of the setting (I haven't exactly nailed it down yet, but the details described herein are by and large "hard" and exist across the various permutations I've mentally devised) it is ruled in it's entirety or in part by a Human Empire lead by a series of mortal Emperor's (and when circumstances demand, Empresses) who in an effort to free their populace by and large from the horrors of war (against themselves and other threats, in some variants of the setting The Empire fights rebels, in others to unite disparate humanity under one banner, one Empire, and in a few against hostile aliens ((I am largely against including Aliens)) ) The Emperor's of times past decreed the creation of advanced Super soldiers, completely identical to one another (the name of which I have 100% down but in the 1 in 1 Trillion chance I ever even attempt to publish this will keep it private) bred for war, humanoid but not human. They are physiologicslly and mentally different. Their skin milky white, eyes human like and light blue (an arbitrary aesthetic choice by The Emperor that decreed their creation long ago). Their organs are resistant against damage from disease, injury and radiation. Their Nervous systems hardened against blast over pressure. They can go days longer than any man without drinking, weeks without eating. They are completely hairless and have no names of their own, identified only by serial numbers tattooed on their foreheads. They are massive and freakishly strong, 8ft tall and capable of deadlifting 1000lbs with ease when out of armor. They lack genitals and are incapable of conventional reproduction, they emerge fully grown and intelligent from gestation vats (training occurs in vitro via a kind of prenatal brainwashing). Psychologically they are cold, calculating and logical. They do not hate, they do not fear, they obey their central directive, Defend Humanity. Their armor being great mechanized suits standing 10ft tall, equipped with the finest sensors (Night Vision, Thermal Imaging, Radar) and subsystems (HUD's, Active Protective Systems,) The Empire fields and painted and repainted in camoflague minutes if not hours before deployment to various worlds. Their weapons mighty and terrible autocannons capable of turning Any conventional vehicle that isn't a main battle tank to scrap metal in a few bursts and pulping infantry. There is but one problem with these super soldiers, they are out of production and have been form some time. Not because Humanity forgot how to make them. They were deemed by The Empire too costly and time consuming to grow, The Nobility did not want to continue paying to create such living weapons of complete overkill. They decided they would birth a new generation of super soldier, the Second Generation [Donut Steel Supersoldier name].

In all versions of the setting the 2nd gens are smaller, weaker, cheaper and quicker to grow versions of the 1st gens. They are similar in many ways to the 1st gen (milky white skin, eyes, lack of genitals etc) but are also ill disciplined, cruel and sadistic. They wield conventional firearms and wear advanced but conventional armor. A constant in every variant of the setting is that the 2nd gens carry a deadly flaw, if they go too long without engaging in battle they enter into a state of irreversible psychosis and start slaughtering, torturing and destroying everything they can get their hands on. Except their fellow 2nd gens. This is where I start getting into bulletpoints.

-In all versions of the setting, the main event is a galaxy wide civil war between Humanity, their loyalist 1st gen supersoldiers and the psychotic 2nd gens, who by orders of magnitude outnumber their enemies in terms of troops under arms.
-Another constant is an initial slow but inevitable grinding defeat for the good guys until the leader of the loyalist supersoldiers goes before The Emperor and says "Restart the creation of my kind and grant me supreme command of all Imperial Forces and and I will win the war" to which The Emperor reluctantly agrees, setting the stage for events to happen later.
-The leader of the supersoldiers, being the most cold and logical of all his brothers, will do what it takes to win (and fulfill his mission of Defending Humanity) without being burdened by emotions or conscience. He will restart production of his kind under emergency protocols, quickening their production but drastically reducing their lifespans, he will reintroduce military service to humans and raise great armies of them, out of those who prove exceptional he will funnel into enhancement and augmentation programs where not all will survive the process, but those that do will emerge barely human in their capabilities. He will reorganize and streamline anything and everything, ignoring the hysterical cries of Imperial officials. He will destroy entire planets (after making every possible effort to evacuate it) if it means winning the war, eventually.
-Story would largely focus on the loyalist supersoldiers themselves and the people (soldier and civilian alike) and officials they interact with interspersed with vivid descriptions of battles across the Galactic war front. Would probably also have World War Z style side stories exploring various different places and situations from the perspectives of anyone but the rebel 2nd gens).
-The story would in all variations have plot threads about political debate and conspiracies. The Emperor would grow increasingly paranoid about the growing adoration of his appointed supreme commander that, increasing geometrically after each of this victories, which come increasingly rapidly as the war nears its end.
-Pretty much near universally across all variations the story concludes with the defeat of the 2nd gens and shortly after a coup against The Emperor by the 1st gen leader as he does not trust humanity to not destroy themselves (His directive is too defend humanity, remember, even from themselves). After which he becomes a benevolent dictator to a largely approving Imperial populace.

Thoughts?

Your shit is mega gay and retarded but could be cool if could blend your influences into an edible slop. Just like everything ever written during the spitball phase. It's an interesting concept for a space opera. I'd read it if you put a good your spin on it. Perhaps exploring themes like the imbalanced results of taking logic and emotion from humanity and distilled. It could also set up a potential sequel showing how the empire under the 1st Gen worked out.

Thanks for the commentary.

The clash between human emotion and lines of thinking with the unyielding rationality of their supersoldier creations would definitely be explored. There would be at least a few examples of humans either losing their shit or having a mental breakdown because they just watched A supersoldier, A synthetic being, A computer practically made flesh, glass a planet under Head Honcho Supersoldier's orders without a moment's hesitation (or some other such act a human would at least hesitate to do). There would be conversations that can be boiled down to "I appreciate you guys preventing the entirety of humanity from being literally butchered by tens of millions of our psychotic failed experiments who will literally eat us (the rebelling 2nd generation would be described as committing the worst atrocities in human history against civilian populations, and not in a " hahaha edgy grimdark gore" kind of way but in a "I know there are still civilians present in the area but they'll be dead regardless so deploy the nerve gas" kind of way) but could you be a little nicer about it" with the response in turn boiling down to "why are you being such a pussy, you created us to be able to do these things and if we were to have the same emotional profiles as you casualties would be higher across the board than they already are". Human mental frailty would be a semi-key theme, possibly most prominently with The Emperor character himself (him being reduced to a gibbering mess by the overwhelming nature of an entire Galactic War is sometimes the impetus behind Head Honcho Supersoldier throwing up his hands and saying " I'll do it myself" and launching his ((usually bloodless in most versions)) coup ).

Head Honcho Supersoldier would be the closest thing the story would have to a main character but you wouldn't ever really get a perspective through his eyes or into his private thoughts (if that makes any sense at all). His characterization would come entirely through conversations he has with humans and post-humans (that is, humans he had upgraded and augmented in various ways that I mentioned briefly in the first blurb about this) which will usually but not always devolve into a philosophical debate with Head Honcho (which I should clarify is either The first of the super soldiers ((and thus very special, maybe gestated in his vat for years instead of weeks or months as his creators went through the incredibly costly process of doing triple Prenatal brainwashing and knowledge implantation) created or one of the very early ones who earned his command where he will counter any gay human whining with "You people created an entire new species of humanoid psychotic axe murderers and gave them starships and tanks instead of creating more of my buddies to save a couple bucks, I may be a cold, unfeeling flesh computer who is literally incapable of not Defending Humanity to the very death but fuck you guys are kind of stupid (and privately) maybe you shouldn't rule yourselves (at least for the foreseeable future) and I could defend you guys better (thus more satisfactorily engaging in his prime directive) if I deposed your dipshit Emperor, most of you already love me for my string of victories during this current war against the abominations your species created and lost control of"

Head Honcho would also be a tinkerer, Instead of playing in a garage he'll play with hidden labs deep in the bowels of fortresses or crust of planets, either augmenting and enhancing regular humans (mostly for military purposes, but he has ideas for after the war ends) or growing entirely new, better ones. This would largely be a secret program unveiled at some critical point in the story (a hypothetical reader would know his machinations from the start). In some versions conflict occurs between Head Honcho and Human Imperial Leadership or some of the humans/post-humans he keeps in his inner circle over doing what (humans would consider) unethical experiments (instead of turning adult Space Green Berets In to Super Space Green Berets by submerging them repeatedly in medical goop (that hurts but in a beneficial way) after surgical robots perform 12 operations in 3 hours on them, he starts to wonder that maybe the enhancement process could yield better results if he did them do a still growing body) and asks (Until the very end, Head Honcho is largely subservient to The Emperor, only acting without his permission when absolutely necessary or when in The Emperor's inaction (or incorrect choices) conflicts with his prime directive) whether or not he could have a couple dozen teenagers and adolescents to experiment on. Some versions of the story outline have various characters being very mad at Head Honcho for things like this (and the eventual coup) and may try to kill or dissuade him for various reasons and at different times.

The "Supersoldiers created from adult (and maybe teenage and adolescent) humans instead of grown in vats" story component is actually a fairly recent one. They would remain distinctly human despite their augmentation (a compromise Head Honcho made with Imperial Leadership for them to approve the program) with all the human desires, flaws and vices (Friendship, Love, Sex, smoking, drinking etc) and might represent an inadvertent next step in human evolution due to genetic alterations that can be passed down to progeny (Head Honcho was explicitly prevented from doing any alterations that resulted in sterilization or removal of genitals in fear of having too small of a candidate pool of volunteers). If all of this sounds like a bit of a sausage fest it's because it is, but I even thought up a special role for the rare woman among these enhanced humans. Being rare amongst their ranks creates a bit of a novelty for conventional humans, Head Honcho recognizes this and devises a new plan. He gathers up all the female examples (probably not more than a few hundred, smaller eligible candidate pool, fewer from it volunteer, maybe a slightly higher success rate due to maternal pain tolerance and all that etc) and says to them "Morale amongst the human population is not high enough to be satisfactory, they need symbols, you will be those symbols, You are now your own independent military unit under my direct command. (human belief in symbols commented on here etc). Anyway get in the robotic plastic surgery machines, I need you to be nearly Inhumanly pretty for the propaganda posters. Also remember those winged jetpacks you and your male counterparts use to do propelled glides towards landing zones during low orbit combat drops? I've modified them with holographic projectors to give you the illusions of literal wings, have fun doing propaganda ops and comforting women and children in refugee camps". Eventually the leader of these Battle Barbies would have enough of Head Honcho's shit and have a little verbal sparring match with him about how they're Soldiers, not Social Workers, where he says in reply that their work is more important than any battlefield success they could achieve, is your pride really so important to you? Head Barbie is a little taken aback about this, especially whenit comes from an unfeeling post-human grown in a vat(probably some commentary you could make here about the flaws in human emotion in comparison to Head Honcho's practical and logical decision making process.)

I’m writing a kiwi farms fan fiction. The main theme is a love story but it also has some very overt themes of dimensional merge, Null and TBone as substantial characters and a bunch of references to other usernames (basically any time I can think to include one and it doesn’t scan badly) and also numerous references to sonichu and internal Kiwi Farms lore.

Is this a thing I should post? I am tempted though I am still just mostly through the generation phase

Ps cwcisms like “my love quest is finally over” and “ezoob gin” are incorporated actually the last one is a leitmotif

I forgot to reply to this initially but

After having read an X post from one of the platform's most lauded Chud Author and literary figure about the place of AI in relation to creative works (his perspective being that it should not be used for wholesale generation, but refinement and exploration of concepts that are then put to pen) I decided to try it out for myself and input the base parameters of the setting and story outlines in to both Grok and Perplexity (which gave much better results than Grok)

I tried several times and one time really stuck out. I started out with the initial base scenario (2nd gen rebellion, Humanity re-militarized, hard choices being made etc) that ends with a perfectly executed bloodless coup installing Head Honcho as the Emperor that isn't. The Machine then suggested that I jump ahead in the timeline a few hundred years, I though why not and what it spat out was a C+ tier sci-fi epic (that was admittedly a little short on dialogue)

Essentially after a couple centuries of tranquility Head Honcho decides to on a limited basis give some planets freedom if they choose it. The Narrative really develops from there with the program eventually expanding to allow any world to have complete freedom from the administration of Head Honcho and his supersoliders if they choose it via Democratic referendum. Around this time Head Honcho reveals that he's been working on Humans II: Humans but better, which are exactly what they sound like. Humans that are better in everyway than normal ones and can interbreed with "normal" humans, causing the offspring to inherit the refinements engineered by Head Honcho. This announcement and the accompanying settlement programs (unpopulated worlds wherever possible, if on Inhabited planets separation by continent is employed) freaks out an instantly crystallized coalition of space racists who oppose the newly unveiled wunderkind but there also emerges space hippies who embrace them and see them as essentially a beneficial virus that eventually will "infect" the entirety of humanity, upgrading it in the process. The space racists are only slightly soothed by an accompanying decree from Head Honcho that any planet that wishes to can ban these next gen humans from their soil, but also cautions that any attempt at genocide in whole or in part will be dealt with harshly. Time goes on and the space racists and space hippies become the two dominant political forces in the galaxy, a politics crisis emerges and open war threatens to erupt. Meanwhile in the background I've fed the bot details about a secret program to develop thousands of colony ships that can scatter humans around various different galaxies, lessening the chance of extinction in the face of some kind of Galactic calamity. Head Honcho, mad as something with no emotions can be that the stupid humans are being stupid again, shocks everyone by literally teleporting into the chaotic and on the verge of failure war prevention conference and tells them that if they hate each other so much he can send them to different galaxies if they wish. Despite being shocked that an 8 ft tall man materialized in a flash of light right in front of them they agree and some political scheming begins about colony ship demographics begins before Head Honcho shuts it down before it can cause problems. Everyone was quite curious as to just how Head Honcho could teleport and he tells them that since he overthrew The Emperor he's been working on advanced technologies that he doesn't trust humans with yet and says that they'll all be included on the colony ships, and for the very vast majority of humanity that is left behind in the colony ship's wake they'll have access when the very last colony ship departs. After this the narrative gets very "large". Head Honcho and his supersoldiers get bored and decide to venture off into the void of space, meet friendly aliens who I think were depicted as what we would perceive as living spacecraft and do a bunch of other sci-fi stuff. Eventually the fabric of reality started tearing itself apart but I had written Head Honcho to be such an ultra logical redditor he owned the shit out of the semi sentient unreality with facts and logic. The "Epilogue" was set tens of thousands of years after with Head Honcho being revered as a semi mythical pseudo-messianic figure.

So, bit of an update to my writing, since I've had several weeks.

Overall, progress has been fairly slow - like I said, IRL takes priority - but it's honestly going fairly well. Was going over a lot of stuff, got a character design near-finalized outside of two minor details, and I also got a working plot in order that I can start the moment I get a break. Basically, things are going fantastic on my end despite not being able to get much done, and I'll likely start making a crap-ton of progress once things quiet down. That being said... there is something that's been giving me some slight issues.

EDIT: Nevermind on the "other issue", got it sorted out earlier after doing some freeform writing. I am still willing to sperg on my writing if anyone's wanting me to.

Anyways, that's my progress on my end. How's everyone else?

i am writing a small story to put aside verdus 13. take little bite of it

The birds flew over the capital of Krocja, krasto, up there in the tower, amongst the empty yet warm small city, the newly appointed emperor of the empire planned his next scheme while eating the schewinschnitzel. that scheme is to conquer three left out of the five nations of the east while also try to manage the white queen’s pesky “negotiation” and “defense aids” that she called upon those nation. It makes his blood boil of her sanctimoniousness even during house meetings when he was his teen, worse still he was forced to exposed to even more of her rhetoric and ideology, how he HATES IT. anyways enough of rambling, what shall we do next on how to mobilize the next troop. first and second nation, leygask and tavrim.leygask is a nation that could be convinced to join and fight alongside the krasto empire as because of compatible culture and somewhat similar ethnic population. Tavrim however resist but easily conquered due to combined force, as if an empire's military prowess isn't enough.

You're already known as the fat drunken journoscum connoisseur of man ass. How do you even have anything left to be embarrassed about at this point? It'd be like the 5th least humiliating thing you've done to yourself on this site no matter how shitty it turns out.
