Ryan Coogler might have a role in bringing together a iteration in the The X-Files franchise.
According to a new report from Bloody Disgusting, The X-Files creator Chris Carter told On the Coast with Gloria Macarenko that he might be adding a new chapter to his creation with the help of the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever writer/director. As he said, “I just spoke to a young man…Ryan Coogler…who is going to remount The X-Files with a diverse cast. So he’s got his work cut out for him, because we covered so much territory.”
A new X-Files project had been teased since 2020, with the project being an animated version of the series following the agents who investigate the cases too ridiculous for Mulder and Scully, according to what TV Line reported back then. But this sounds like an entirely new project.

If Coogler actually takes on The X-Files, it wouldn’t necessarily be his first foray into the world of science fiction, since Black Panther is now part of Afrofuturist canon. But it would be a surprising diversion still, since Coogler is probably one of the last names people would expect to be attached to The X-Files. However, this could also give Lovecraft Country fans another sci-fi show to root for.

The race files.

I already have all the episodes of The X-Files and they're awesome and their semi-dated nature makes them even more enjoyable and charming. The first episode is awesome and watching Agent Scully walk into work and nobody is on cellphones and the front desk attendant doesn't have a computer and is using a log book and an office full of CRT monitors that are slowly yellowing is fucking awesome.

What I'm saying is I don't want it.

The remastered version makes the show look like a period piece. The trench coats, Mulder's large suits... kino 90s aesthetic.

Fight the future indeed.

Without spoilers, did the 2016 and 2018 revivals offer any sort of decent conclusion? I know the original TV series ending was a head scratcher.

Well Smoking man finally died and Scully reveals she's pregnant to Mulder in the final episode after they believe their alien son William is dead.

Skinner fate is saddly left unknown as we last see him get run-over by a car.

I don't care about a diverse cast, I care about a good cast. When I read this shit,, I automatically assume that the show is going to be garbage. They know the show is going to suck and this is an effort to drum up positive press since they have nothing else going on.

I'm not against having different races in shows, no one. We want good content. And it's been years since I've watched the X-Files, but I remember it being pretty damn diverse. There were new characters almost every episode, and they had just about every single race and both sexes on there multiple times. And they also had mythical creatures and talked about different cultures too.

I loved The X-Files. I also liked Millennium, The Lone Gunmen, Harsh Realm, and even that Amazon pilot that wasn't picked up. They had good characters, good design and production quality, and were good vehicles for telling stories. And Chris Carter seems like an interesting, friendly guy. Just a good guy you'd want to have a beer with and talk about bigfoot or whatever. Like where the next plane is going to hit.

But the second X-Files movie and the reboot seasons were hot trash. I have no desire to revisit this universe. Not as a continuation, not as a loving homage, and not as a complete reboot. I have my headcanon to explain how Mulder cleared his name and stopped Colonization. After that, he spent the rest of his days making YouTube videos about Fortean phenomena and driving Dr. Mrs. Scully-Mulder crazy. The end.

How can you have an X-Files series in a time when everyone's got a camera in their pocket that can film crazy shit and blast weird news all over the internet in a matter of seconds? Mulder and Scully would be pretty much having to fight off crowds of people at every sighting of a UFO or at every crazy corpse covered in space-mold. There'd be no way to keep a lid on anything anymore. The original X Files was a quaint artifact of a time when communications had grown efficient enough to disseminate information, but not act as an instant panopticon., and when enough people trusted the Government that a cabalistic group of high ranking officials pulling society's strings seemed like a shocking reveal.
