At least with the female counter-part, fan girls or groupies, they can cite anecdotes going as far back as the 1950s of male celebs/rockstars dating their female fans. Parasocial simps don't even have a single anecdote to justify their delusion.

Supermodels are not chosen because they are attractive. That sounds counter intuitive I know, but hold on with me.

Super models are chosen because they are tall, skinny but when not made up are...not unattractive, but very plain. There are women with very distinguished and attractive features that get through sometimes, but prominent high cheekbones, a defined chin and a lower jaw can be made up to appear a very wide number of ways.

Supermodels get picked because the design team can go wild and make them look however they want, a blank canvas for looks that women with more eyecatching features might not be able to pull off. Have a look, they tend to all share a very similar face shape and it just happens to be very flexible.
