**Shane9540: The New TikTok "Star" You Can't Look Away From**
Shane9540 is a 29-year-old TikTok user with 198k followers, known for his strange and awkward "rapping" live streams and videos. Shane, who is physically small (about the size of a 10-year-old) and lives with multiple disabilities, frequently streams from public places—most often in the parking lot of a Raising Cane’s in Fort Worth, Texas. Every week, without fail, Shane heads to the Cane’s parking lot, where he spends hours awkwardly dancing and "rapping." His performances consist mostly of him holding a speaker to his ear while mumbling lyrics and yelling random words since he doesn’t know the songs. He uses songs his livestream recommends. This is his regular routine, whether it's early in the morning or at sunset.
Shane genuinely believes he is a rapper, thinking that by singing other people's songs, he is earning his TikTok fame. Unfortunately, his attempts at rapping are more of a jumble of sounds than coherent lyrics. He has no idea that his renditions are terrible and that many viewers are tuning in for the spectacle rather than for his talent.
In addition to his Cane’s parking lot streams, Shane also records similar videos in front of a nearby Panda Express, which is within walking distance. He walks between these two fast-food locations, live streaming and repeating his bizarre performances. He also streams and makes videos from his bedroom at his mom's house.
Shane’s appearance often draws comments from viewers. His teeth are yellow, dirty, and look very unhealthy, making his poor hygiene noticeable in nearly all of his videos. His lips and face are always dry and crusty, giving him a disheveled look that doesn’t go unnoticed. Trolls in his live streams frequently ask him when he last brushed his teeth (likely never) or urge him to brush them, but Shane seems completely unaware or indifferent to their remarks.
Shane generally seems harmless, though he sometimes swears when he gets frustrated. He regularly engages with trolls in his live chat, letting them upset him. Shane gets particularly mad when trolls post the address of the Cane’s he’s in front of or when they ask him to "battle," ruining his mood. Despite being 29, Shane behaves much like a child, feeding into the trolls' comments and getting more frustrated each time. He is very motivated to gain subscribers for $9.99 a month on TikTok and to receive as many likes as possible. He often continues streaming despite not wanting to, just to accumulate as many likes and followers as he can.
His relationship with his mom further adds to this childlike behavior. His mom has her own TikTok account, @shanes.mom, and communicates with him through the live chat, asking where he is so she can come pick him up. When she arrives, Shane whines like a child, as he wants to keep streaming, and his mom simply puts up with it. He even streams in the car while driving home, using a filter most likely to prevent trolls from finding his address. It seems Shane's mom allows him to walk anywhere he wishes; sometimes he will just walk home. She seems supportive of his new TikTok fame, but they both seem naive as to what could happen with all this online attention.
Shane’s mom has mentioned that they have a "friend" who works at the Cane’s. This "friend" is a female employee that his mom will visit inside the restaurant while Shane livestreams in the parking lot. She even checks to see if the "friend’s" car is there, making it obvious that the Cane’s employees are aware of Shane's weekly parking lot performances.
Shane’s content mostly revolves around his awkward dancing and attempts at rapping, but he also posts the same line dancing video from a local bar over and over again. Despite it being the exact same footage, Shane seems unaware of how repetitive his content is and continues to upload it. He also uploads videos of wherever he happens to be around town (likely with his mom). One such location was a local high school football game, where he uploaded countless videos.
His poor hygiene, small stature (probably under 5'5" and very thin), and childlike behavior make him a frequent target for trolls, with most viewers mocking him during his streams. Some women in the comments, however, defend him, expressing sympathy for his situation and enabling him with compliments. Despite the mockery, Shane seems completely oblivious to the fact that people are making fun of him. He genuinely believes he’s on the path to fame as a rapper, with his mom supporting this delusion. She even mentioned recently that she plans to buy him something to help organize his livestream setup so he doesn’t forget anything when leaving the house.
Shane also participates in TikTok "rap battles" via duets, though these are mostly one-sided, with Shane struggling to come up with coherent lyrics. Occasionally, attractive women join his livestreams, and they’re nice to him on purpose, likely for attention from viewers. They help cheer him up when trolls upset him, but these moments of positivity are usually short-lived.
As of 10/5/24, there’s only one YouTube video about Shane, titled *Guy Sings Million Dollar Baby Beautifully,* which has 224 views. The video showcases Shane's usual off-key singing, but it’s clear that Shane doesn’t realize people are mocking him. He genuinely believes he’s a TikTok star.

I can see this going downhill very fast; the fact that he can walk seemingly wherever he pleases without his mom knowing is concerning. He is very close to what seems like a major highway. His regular Cane’s location is next to a Buc-ee’s. Being in such a busy area does seem like it could be a potential problem as he is making himself into a public spectacle. "Fans" could easily find him while he is outside. His TikTok fame is very new.
