Has anyone considered starting a thread on Owen Benjamin? He's gone off the rails recently. Here's a brief rundown:
He supposedly screwed over some guy he was partnering with and alienated a large portion of his fanbase.
He is now claiming that the moon landing didn't happen.
He recently streamed himself opening gifts, and he received a box of gummy dicks in the mail. He even laughed about it.
Weeks later, he began accusing people of trying to "poison" his family with tainted gummies...and even doxxed two of his former fans the other night on stream. He gave out their first and last names and then encouraged his fans to go after them.
So, I think at this point Patreon itself is deserving a thread in the community watch section. There was already some pretty hilarious stuff going on in the platform, and there is clearly a ton of cross thread and cow interest in what is going with Patreon. This is too big a thing for me to do alone though. Pls help if interested! Here is my rough draft.

In 2013, a failed music artist by the name of Jack Conte became sad about how Youtube just was not bringing in the cash required to fund the hipster lifestyle in California. Despite his best efforts, his band "Pomplamoose" just could not get any traction, and the youtube revenues and bar room gigs just were not cutting it. He simply could not understand why. I mean, FFS, check out the intro video to his youtube series "Hey, Its Pomplamoose!"
Up until this point online crowdfunding had been dominated by initial investment websites like kickstarter, where a project would be funded in full at the outset, and then created. The kickstarter method was however, an inferior form of ebegging, as after the initial project goals were met there was an implied requirement to actually DELIVER on what was advertised. Unable to promise delivery of something like say, a Good album, Conte hit on a brilliant idea. Why not create a version of Kickstarter where the goal was not to provide a finished project, but to instead fund an indeterminate amount of projects for an indeterminate amount of time? And thus, the greatest ebegging website and community, Patreon, was born.
The new company set itself some very important goals, which was to have a method for "creatives" to fund their projects and for the people who liked their projects to provide money to them after Patreon took its 5% cut of the revenues. In Contes head this most likely meant for D list music acts like his own to get cash to pay the rent while living the lifestyle of musicians good enough to actually secure an industry contract. In practice though, Patreon exists on the internet, and the internet is for porn. A horde of Tumblr/DeviantArt "creators" and other sick fucks discovered that they could monetize their fetishes through the service and thus provided the initial backbone of their company.

Yet all was not porn, camwhores, and very bad music. The great minds of youtube, those august luminaries, discovered that Patreon was also a convenient place to escape from the shackles of youtube and also live in the manner that their big brains deserve. These include such notable individuals like Dave Rubin, Jordan Peterson, Sam Harris, Tim Poole and Carl Benjamin. And this is where Patreon began to run into trouble. Conte had it in his head that it would be a place for creatives, and instead his platform was being used to fund political activities. When Lauren Southern was filmed working to deny access to Europe by migrants, she was banned from the platform, leading some to raise concern over the potential of censorship.
In response, Conte went on the Rubin Report and promised that Patreon would only be concerned with activities people did on the platform, and not what they did elsewhere.
But it was when patreon kicked off Carl Benjamin, AKA, Sargon of Akkad that the shit really began to fly. The same people who were raising tens of thousands of dollars on Patreon began to throw a shit fit, fearing that they may be next. Creators not even directly related to the incident also began to see their hotpocket funds start to crater.
When these same creators moved to a rival platform, Subscribestar, Paypal and Stripe pulled support from it. Which is strange considering subscribestar was just a bystander and their top content creators were a random Chinese lady who don't speaky the engrish gud, and cam whores. This have led some to wonder if Patreon might not be engaging in illegal trust like collusion with the payment processors. Which has inevitably led to interest from the e-lawyer community.
Honestly, I'm just surprised nobody has reported things like Paraphore, which is half furry CP and half furry hurtcore guro/snuff CP presented as "uwu so cute :3" I've been tempted to do it myself, because there's some real fucking violations of the terms of service that Patreon has.
As bizarre as his content is, I really would not put him as a prime example of super progressive (awful) Patreon campaigns. I guarantee you that there are far more degenerate examples out there, and even then, it doesn't feel like those examples should be a part of this thread. Unless they explicitly go against Patreon's ToS and Patreon turns a blind-eye toward them. In that regard, those are good examples of just pure incompetence.
Patreon is fucking bullshit and if it ceased to exist the world would be a better place. Almost everyone on it is a lazy, thieving scam artist who does nothing or next to nothing for their money, and on top of that, it's just an SJW circle jerk to fund social cancer. Since they've taken the political side of cancer, the people they've excluded from their platform should probably treat them as outright enemies and do whatever they can to finish them off.
