I absolutely LOVE how people from humble beginnings still think they're down with the working class, no matter what. That doesn't surprise me. Tim is not a good CEO, or even a boss for that matter as his thing is to just let people make shit and hope it works out, which is fine if you're a website like Youtube or Newgrounds where random people can contribute, but not if you're trying to make a brand network. You don't have to micromanage either, but you should really have time where you look at trial episodes and pilots and give input and workshop what can be done better to improve the content.

I don't think Tim is good at really consulting for content either, as watching him and Carter talk about music always sounds confusing, and not because it's technical but because it's a lot of spitballing where Tim has an idea he describes vaguely and expects the other guy to do. Saying something like "we need a gong but not a gong like a gonging sound like a violin going e-ee-e-ee" is not helpful direction it's just being an idea guy and idea guys are a dime a dozen these days.

It's like he's trying to run a laissez-faire management system, but he doesn't have the wherewithal to know how to do so. Which is sad because all he would have to do is take a few semesters of business classes and he could probably be much better at running a growing, sprawling enterprise. I knew a guy that went to Berkley School of Music and he would talk about how big musicians like Dr Dre and Les Claypool would be on campus every now and then because they were taking classes from people with extensive expertise on learning new techniques, new tools, furthering their skillset, etc.

Which brings me around to Tim's fundamental problem that I saw manifest in several of my friends back in high school: being smart around a bunch of retards doesn't mean you're a genius. I know a few people that bought into the rhetoric of "school and university is for stupid people to be told how to think!" and dropped out of high school. They all acted as if they were too clever for university and bought the "working class hero" mentality. They'll just figure it all out on their own, you yuppie sheep! They thought excelling beyond the low bar set in public school made them superior, when it really just meant they were slightly above average.

This kind of arrogance and superiority complex is a huge pitfall. If you want to grow and manage a large company, then it behooves you to have someone knowledgeable to do so. It's why The Blaze isn't run by Glen Beck and why Daily Wire isn't run by Ben Shapiro, but by associates that are more skilled in running those companies. Tim is smart about YT analytics and such, but that doesn't necessarily translate to being able to set up and grow a business. That deficit could be solved by taking some online classes at a local community college and having someone more knowledgeable than you teach you some shit. But Tim's too smart for that. He'll figure it out on his own. How hard could it be?

I remember seeing an early episode of Cast Castle and thinking it weird they were showing a shopping trip where they spent 10k$+ on fossils, but I figured they just got a new place and whatever, but then that just became every episode with them buying bikes, motorcycles, pool tables, building a skate park in their basement, Tim buying trinkets constantly and random 700$ slabs of meat. I get some of the food and liquor goes to the show and production, but at some point you're just burning money and I hate when people try to justify that it's just a small purchase, because that's what keeps most people poor, it's not one big expense but the constant burning of 20$ here and there.

Sure, there's probably some element of people wanting to be richer than you and willing to cheat to gain it, but you have way more ability to change your class status than anything else. I think Goldman will confuse his overall irrelevance with the coast being clear for him to mount a comeback.
