He's not wrong about that. He does overdo it, but the sorts of zero sum politics the US is engaging in can only lead to one place.

That said though the J6 committee is ridiculous. And they won't call Tim to testify because he's going to tell them to their faces that. Abject poverty is what you're describing. It's more objective since it's based more on the ability to sustain life. U.N. puts it at anyone in the world who earns less than $1.90 per day, but there's some wiggle room depending on locality and what that actually gets you.

Relative is always the bottom X% (where X usually has some semi-arbitrary calculation). Our official poverty line in the US is relative-poverty based and it's the type the our government tends to work with because abject poverty is very low here. The OPM line is currently calculated by multiplying the estimated minimum food cost by 3. That 3 is the arbitrary bit, and can be adjusted to keep relative with the average income as needed. It is often synonymous with "poor".

Just because you don't like the way other people use the term doesn't mean it's not a thing other people recognize or use.
