Tim got famous from his AntiFa coverage, which credit where it's due when he was doing it in Europe. But that's old news now, ever since he transitioned to being a dime a dozen politics podcaster/youtuber i stopped caring, and i see this music as just another way for him to inflate his ego and 'send a message' that i can only guess is that he can convince thousands of people with bad tastes to waste money on a song they're never gonna listen to again.
Other than his politics being centre-left, and his music being alt-rock or whatever, Tim is legit comparible to Baked.
Except Baked is the funny kind of trainwreck to me.

If a civil war was to happen tomorrow, what would Tim Pool do? Do you think Tim has a large quantity of backup beanies in case of emergency? Where will Tim Pool resupply the beanies if the USA collapses?

The left has used art and music to subvert right wing cultural norms since forever. They’ve been on the winning side of the culture war as judged by history for as many generations as I can reliably trace back. The main difference now is large companies have finally caught on that the target demographic of under 35 year olds can be catered to instead of endlessly hedging their bets trying to appease aging social conservatives with archaic fence sitting rules like the unwritten comics codes and movie codes or Tipper Gore decency standards etc of generations past. They probably realized that model isn’t going to work these days anyways when they compete with social media. The new right instead of hitting back with real culture launched 1000 middle aged white guys with embarrassing facial hair doing identical podcasts about a culture war they always lost and a civil war that’s never going to happen. The right briefly ventured into actual subversive art briefly with alt-right memes around 5 years ago but it quickly turned embarrassingly cringe instead of going in a more artistic direction so womp womp.

Now we have beanie man over here dropping assy power ballads that sound like they were conceived 15 years ago by a Nickelback roadie. He’s even paying to run up the numbers just to save face, truly toad behavior that makes Ben Shapiro’s straight to web movies look like Frances Ford Coppola in comparison. How is butt Rock winning the culture war Timmy?

Edit: Forced myself to watch the whole thing. I wasn't sure if she died or they broke up while watching, looks like it ended up being both? I just think it's doing too much in one video, trying to tell a story of people buying a fixer upper together and building a life, a break up, and a tragic death, while also being titled as something about desire. This is basically four or more videos/songs lumped into one that makes it feel like a song by committee which isn't good.

If this was a story about a guy and a girl buying a fixer upper together and building a life over time, that would be a good video and would fit the title. Think "We Didn't Start the Fire" which shows the history of a household basically in the background. Then they could have made two other songs and videos about alternate timelines where they broke up after a fight, where one died after some bullshit, etc. That would actually be a fun series of videos about life and how our choices play out, you know, an album about one couple and the multiverse of choices that could have happened in their relationship to show the complexity of humanity. As it stands, it's a mess.

I suspect Adam was the one who wrote "Will of the People." Like, growing up, Adam was the cool, older brother that played guitar, skateboarded, and picked up chicks and Tim was the one that emulated him. The one thing he couldn't do was be naturally cool as that requires to not act like a sperge. Hence, why Tim was basically a right place at the right time kind of success in a field completely unrelated to skateboarding or music.

I'd think Tim is making the mistake of thinking that branching out into new mediums and making new IP for his brand or whatever is going to be good for engagement and his "message" or whatever. Problem is that when you make yourself part of all of this shit and it's all saturated with your political branding you begin alienating people by looking like an egomaniac and a jackass.
