It's part of his image of aligning himself with the common Ukrainian fighting the war by dressing in tactical-style outfits made by Ukrainian companies. Among his countrymen, high-end fashion is associated with Russian elites. When Trump meets with Saudi Arabians, they don't wear suits, they wear their typical Sand-nigger robes, the "thawb," because that's what they're expected to wear.
