I keep seeing this in my recommended on YT, I know it has something to do with pedos but DDG doesn't seem to turn up any good results on "youtube pick a side".

TL;DR me this shit so I know what the fuck is going on.

Apparently YouTube is deleting videos of people talking about pedophilia, I dunno.
 
Mama Max made a video about a new pedophile but because he is an edgy retard he talks about PERSONALLY HUNTING THEM DOWN AND KILLING THEM AND PROTECTING CHILDREN
Or some shit so youtube removed it because it was technically against TOS so Mama Max bitched out and made a video with a thumbnail that makes him look like a victim of domestic violence
The video is called "pick a side youtube" and is basically another callout vid for the admins. He tagged Muta and a bunch of other people, some out of nowhere and without warning because he's an asshole
Youtube eventually got in contact with him I think and they are working something out but I don't really care
I hate pedophiles as much as the next person but Mama Max is such a fucking loser and his edgy tryhard deep voice persona is lame as fuck.

Just like with the "Republican Senator who voted against gay marriage found with boy hooker in hotel room" and "Neo-Nazi found with interracial porn on his iphone" headlines I get the feeling that those who go out of their way to A-log about pedophiles have something to hide and are projecting.

Molesting children is wrong, and normal people agree that molesting children is wrong. Making an edgelord youtube video about how you are "totally NOT a pedo, guise! Death to pedos!" raises a red flag.

not necessarily. i could also see someone developing an irrationally obsessive hate for pedos if he himself (or someone close to him) had been the victim of a pedo in the past.

but since this is social media personalities we're talking about here i think it's all just performative virtue signaling and outrage baiting, all for the sake of 'growing their brand' aka drawing as much attention as possible to themselves because that's how they make their money. i don't think it's deeper than that.

-Youtube striked the videos
-Youtube wanting those vidoes taken down = youtube care more about their advertisers than awareness of pedos online = Youtube supports pedos
-Mamamax makes this video also featuring a shit ton of other youtubers talking about how youtube strikes down their content talking about shitty people, but won't take down content made by predators
-Mamamax starts a twitter hashtag trend #PickASideYoutube to try and get youtube to pick between children or pedos

And apparently it worked, because he's secured some kind of meeting with youtube from it as of like yesterday so /shrug

"Meeting with YouTube" just means an intern patting him on the back and calming him down. YT is not going to fundamentally change anything about how the site works, how the terms of service work, how privacy and DMCA requests work; they just want to quickly appease the social media mob so they all can forget about it and return to watching ads and toy channels.

Edgy Pedohunter warrior needs more views so blackmails and pushes people and ex friends in the community to #pickaside and make YouTube Wake up 2.0 in a quest for laxxer ad rev on edgy creators so not about bad touch on kids after all.
