Today's toys - this is only for the playthings in the current era

Here is one area of living where the standards have not fallen so far. Hollywood movies suck, video games have not improved in the last decade (and VR isn't what we dreamed it would be), tv show are not longer series-worthy, young adult novels are like tabloids, etc., but the kids will remain kids. They will be politically incorrect and throw volcanic tantrums when the corporations don't give the right quality. The toy mass markets have not caved in to the lazy ass ambiance that is destroying society now.

This thread will be for the toys you can buy today that were just as good as the ones in the early 2000s, 1990s, 1980s, etc. and nothing in the execution of their creativity has changed.

I'll start it with something really cool that Disney is ACTUALLY making and selling online. (as opposed to the mood in the thread 'Disney General - The saddest fandom on Earth') I can't find this in stores in my city but this caught my eye dead center and its quality is as good as something for a '90s kids. I hope it is far superior to SIM City and people would actually break rules and push for more hours of playing the game at a sleepover or house party.

The artwork of this product is far better than the cover art for re-released films in their 2010s boxes. https://imgbbb.com/images/2019/09/25/9hKDh46axwYLKodKLg7Zs59X9UC.jpg

Chance >>>>> anything else.

Prove me wrong.

My son has recently decided that Hot wheels and Nerf/Dart guns are his new favorite things. Both are massively better now than I remember them being in the 80s. Hell, back then Nerf only made footballs and dart guns fired really shitty rubber or plastic darts that only went 5 feet and did so in a weird trajectory. And now Hot Wheels loops actually managed to get the car through them most of the time.

This thread is going to get really autistic really fucking fast.

I can't wait!

I will help with the autisms.

In Target I saw the Fisher Price Chatter Phone. They still make it under a classic toy line. I don't know if it's limited or not, but it is a rotary phone and not some stupid updated cell phone version. I had this thing as a kid and loved it so much. Well at least today's kids can learn all about the joys of dialing a rotary line.

I saw this cool as hell Lego series at Target called Hidden Side, which is sort of like the Lego version of Ghostbusters (but not literally Lego Ghostbusters)

I, as an adult, don't own any Lego sets, but I'd be lying if I said Hidden Side isn't cool enough that I'm tempted to go full Chris Chan.

This has an app for an Augmented Reality game, doesn't it? I keep hoping that something like this will eventually be good.
