So, apparently a certain fellow by the name of John Ronald Reuel Tolkien is getting a biopic movie made about them.

Here are the currently available trailers:

Here is some basic info from IMDB about the upcoming flick.

Having watched the trailers, I am skeptical about the possible quality of this flick.

Thoughts, my fellow autists?

Hm, I see no reason why this should be bad, based on the trailer. Though I have little doubt there'll be a black librarian woman or something who provides JRR and CS with lots of inspiration and a book of mythology.
ETA: Also, Christopher Tolkien and the rest of the family are pretty protective of the source material when it comes to words on a page, so when it comes to the man himself, I'm sure they probably had family meetings over every word.

To think this maybe the only real competition Detective Pikachu has that weekend, but I don't see it trumping the box office even with the legion of Tolkien fanboys.

Has the unfortunate title of being the first Fox Searchlight Pictures film to be distribted by Disney, though.

Seems like I'm the only one who thinks that it won't suck based on this poll.

To be fair though, that might be me being a little biased since I grew up with The Hobbit (it's the only book I've read multiple times, I think just over 5 times). I have all the other middle-earth based books too though I haven't had a chance to read most of them (though I do plan to soon since after reading Fight Club I finally got my book reading mojo back on after five or so years of not reading a single book unless comics count so I'll probably read something middle earth related this weekend).

Ok, Dwight R. R. Martin

Hmm... while I don't feel much about the movie one way or the other, I expect to see some quite exceptional (I really typed it that way) takes on why he was a horrible racist sexist monster, maybe even a few that aren't recycled from whenever the last time people were talking about him.
