I like Tom Hardy but I hate everything he's in so I guess I look forward to never seeing the new Bond movies despite approving of this casting choice.

For people surprised at the non-woke casting, bear in mind, James Bond is the embodiment of British imperialism. You can't cast anyone but an upper/middle class white guy without it being thematically inconsistent, or at least without having to address it in the film. If they wanted to be Woke they'd cast a black or Asian actor and then have him be conflicted about the whole aspect of being a glowie for the British state, or feeling he's selling out or undermining "his people" or betraying other causes or whatever. Kind of like Mystery Road, or really any film with black police or spies in it. (Edit: Spooks actually did this really well with a lot of its characters.) But then the wokelords would hate it because it was making a POC character look bad, and it wouldn't please anybody.
