The dumbest thing is how.grwat of a setup they have to appeal to both kids and collectors, make an appealing and fun mainline with a line wide gimmicks for kids, accuracy be damned (because kids don't give a shit) and have the SS line be geared towards collectors, maybe pack in shit for more interesting display options, and have lines like legacy be a gateway for younger audiences to get into collecting. Instead they have three lines that try to each other and it becomes an absolute mess.

No, just make one line to appeal to both kids and collectors. Kids enjoy articulation and detail as much as collectors, and collectors also like gimmicks, so every toy should provide something for everyone. If they want to remake old figures, make the Generations/Studio Series line into one like that appeals to both kids and adults. Kids are fascinated by all the cool, interesting toys they've never seen before and are older than them, and their minds will be blown when they see the same toy but even cooler. If collectors want heckin' display pieces, that's what the 3rd party/Japanese stuff is for.

For what it's worth, I'd argue the "cheap" TFONE toys are still pretty good. Like the "Prime Changer" Optimus Prime I consider a better toy than the Studio Series version. Those little flip changers are stupid little fun desk toys too. As it stands we're waiting until almost the end of next year to get the studio series versions of the entire main cast, which is pretty ridiculous for a movie toe-in.

Unrelated note, but I got the SS86-31 Optimus Prime the other day. I knew it was gonna be good just from the reviews I watched but man, that thing feels good in hand too.

The later half of beast wars and the unicron trilogy figures as a whole were both screen accurate and gimmick filled to various degrees. They proved they could still make those when they reissued the figures recently with slightly shittier paint job on megatron and metallic paint on primal's head because nowadays they intentionally fuck shit up to have the original "hold value" (awful fucking shit) for those who want to charge out the ass for them potentially. They shelfwarmed because on top of everything else they wanted like 54 dollars or some shit for them and they finally started selling once they showed up in discount stores for closer to what the MSRP would have been back in the days before post corona price hikes.
Hell the early beast wars sculpts like megatron and optimus primal were nearly 1 to 1 to the show in terms of sculpt with later reissues of them over the years (most takara only sadly) repainting them like the show models to amazing effect. This happened every few years or so till the MP and Kingdom releases happened, then the gimped ones based ont he og inaccurate paintjob came out.

Seriously look at this thing. Wish I had it back in the day but I was also fine with the normal beast megatron I had (and the anniversary version I can't remember if I had or not but think I did?)

Still don't have it now and probably never will now that the "collector value" shit now determines what they do with their releases pricing wise and deco wise.

I was about to post this hours ago but didn't want to double post. The fallen looks great but he's probably gonna be too short due to being a seeming retool of tarn. He's also probably a pre-tool for a megatron figure because of his alt mode being an inaccurate single barrel tank instead of the double barrel tank he's supposed to be.
Also not in these pics, there's a promo image showcasing artwork for a fucking G2 LIEGE MAXIMO figure. He better be a titan because that's literally how big he's supposed to be, but his thin legs make me worry about that.

Also devatator's proportions look kind of fucked up compared to the combiner wars and third party ones from the last 2 decades.

I have to say, I like how adding ratcheting joins in the waist of Scrapper means Voyager price range. Anything to get more money out of people.

Megatronus is a Leader class figure while Siege Megatron is a Voyager. This would be a pre tool for the Leader class Megatron for Studio Series. Unless of course some flame effects warrant a upgrade in price. Same transformation engineering however.

I don't see how that could be a SS Megatron pretool. Looks to short.

Springer got bumped up to leader class price for his ss86 re-release because he has an added panel and a hollow rocket. Though ss86 megatron probably won't be using this fallen mold but I'm just gonna put it out there that yes: they very much will increase price by 15 fucking dollars over really small additions and it's awful.

The two Constructicons are very unimpressive, it’s clear Prime ate a lot of SS budget, if Galvy, the shitty Springer and the repaints are anything to go by.

On the other hand, Megatronus looks amazing and I’m calling it now, we will be getting Covenant and One retools. Funny that the legs of the mold look like Overlord/Sky Shadow, that’s a good callback. I like that they’re taking bits from all over continuity for the Primes, G2 Liege is hype.

People want a Stormbringer Megatron out of the Megatronus mold. I could see it with very little remolding. Looks like they have a cog feature in the chest if the slanted chest part is anything to go by.

I just want a fucking Megatron, EVERY other main TF villian has a good fig, a great one or is getting one, how is it that the main villian STILL hasn’t gotten a good figure?

Siege was fine, but then we got so many molds of it. Getting a miner version of it was okay too for IDW fans but he just wasn't "it" and the G2 mold was just meh. They needed to retool that so he could properly have his shoulder cannon. Shatter Glass was just lazy. Nice colours though. He was just better than the last two Megatrons people got in Power of the Primes/ Combiner Wars lines. Romulus will still be my go to SS Megatron even if he needs some booties.

Wasn't a fan of Shockwave. The armour was fine but could have used some work. He just didn't feel like there was much there and the alt mode was ugly. I would have been fine with another H/ crawler tank for him.

It's a kid's movie: the pace is breakneck, the plot is driven forward by coincidence whenever the writers couldn't get from A to B smoothly within a tight time budget for all the ground covered, and the humor is often obnoxious - but at least the humor does not insist on undermining otherwise serious moments as occurs in Marvel movies.

I just watched it, and agree. I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it but God damn that first trailer was a disaster. If they had advertised it better I'd have went to see it.

my biggest problems were how random bullshit happenstance propelled every plot point, and when Orion became Prime and got the Matrix and D12 or whatever the fuck his name was became Megatron with that cog, they should have got their real voices. the voice acting took me out of the movie hardcore the whole time. if he'd come out of that hole as Peter Cullen it would have propelled the movie up a lot for me.

It was fine, it was fun and had some cool shit in it, if I was 6 I would have loved it. however their advertising people should be drug out and shot because they fucked that movie for any success at all. I posted here about that first trailer being horrible and promptly forgot it got made and only remembered it existed because it was on the private pirate forum I'm in today and went oh shit yeah I gotta watch that train wreck and it ended up being good.

It did put me in a transformers mood though so I'm going to go ahead and read that current comic line that's going on this weekend, and I will buy the movie when a 4k disc drops
