Transformers general thread - Toy Robot men based on giant robots based on previously mentioned toys about said robots

The cash I had set aside for MMC Drift has instead been allocated to DX9 Sideswipe. How did I miss this figure until it was on the cusp of release? G1 Sideswipe has one of my favorite robot designs but I was never going to pay aftermarket prices for the original MP. I would have settled for the Hasbro WFC figure if it had been anywhere close to the concept Bumblebee Sunstreaker deluxe, but instead the WFC toy came out looking as awkward and gangly as something from Robots in Disguise but minus the good paint job.
He's a great figure, doesn't look right beside his brother though as he's a little taller. You'll like him. Fun transformation too.

So I was checking some online stores and I noticed they weirdly suddenly some have a 3rd party optimus prime powermaster figure thing from 2013 in stock for like $70. I looked it up to see if there were any reviews and holy shit this thing is bigger than i thought.

Might get one if I have the spare cash at some point. You're supposed to jam classics prime into the torso but there's also a mode where you spin it around and there's a more greebly torso on the back. Basically it does what energon omega supreme does with that series' optimus minus optimus' head from the smaller figure taking the place of the head.

Just be aware if you do get this thing it turns into a trailer, not a truck with a trailer.

Would you believe me if I told you that I bought Energon Prime, Hot Shot, and Skyblast over MP-01 at Target as a kid?
I don't remember target carrying mp-01 i thought that as toysrus exclusive? but I do not really see that as unbelievable because the main issue with energon prime is his proportions in standard robot mode being goofy looking. Also my parents would never let me get something as expensive as the old masterpiece guys even if they were significantly cheaper than MP is now.

Also i somehow completely forgot about skyblast but he looks really fucking cool.

As someone that owns all of those, you probably made the right decision. The American version of MP-01 really falls flat compared to the Japanese version.

Shit, most of the Energon grunt characters were great little moulds. I used to play with Divebomb all the time cause it was just a fun little bird transformer you could quickly go back and forth on.

Really the whole stupid energon star, energon weapon gimmick the Omnicons and Terrorcons have really had no business being as fun as it was.

I regretted it when I got back home, and still do now. I regret just about every dollar I spent on the Energon line. Luckily most of it was gift cards.
I felt that way with the Beast Wars line. Nothing held up over the years but I found the Unicron Trilogy for the most part did. Wasn't a fan of the gimmicks though.

Oddly enough all my friends were big into Beast Wars, but the only BW figs I have are some of the repaints that came out in the 2001 RID line.

I was okay with the whole line being shellformers since there wasn't much else you could do with animals, but I wasn't a fan of the balljoints they used at the time. Many became fragile over the years.

I see that Skybound is going to start a Battle Beasts comic. Hopefully this leads to some new figures that are around six inch scale, though I'd be happy with 3.75in instead. Better scale to go with most mainline transformers.

Who are you even talking to?

I saw the new SS boxes and THANK YOU GOD THEY HAVE PLASTIC COVERING NOW! Fuck it, we utilize slave labor in China, why the fuck did companies think that taking off protective packaging would help the sea turtles stop choking on chink and Indian garbage? Beats me! Fuck the bitch who demanded that!
ironically they still used plastic, just not on the expensive fucking figures they should be protecting. Really added to the post corona era depressing feeling about things getting shittier but more expensive.

Took a look at Walmart the other day. $24 for a deluxe? Bitch are you for real?
A few years ago voyagers were that price. Insane how much shit spiked. Don't even get me started on the grotesquely inflated "aftermarket ""values"""

Oh boy, here we go.

I’m talking about this guy. He’s an 18y/o man that has dedicated its entire online existence to LARPing as shockwave while acting as the complete opposite of how he’d act. It does not even bother to separate himself from the retarded iteration of the scientists he has come up with, genuinely obsessive.

He is also E-dating a 16y/o Mexican girl. I doubt she even knows how it looks like irl, she doesn’t acknowledges him as a separate entity too. Creepy as fuck.

He’s quite big on TikTok (20k), it seems acting like a complete moron gets you a decent amount of followers.

Tell me what you all think.
