Transformers general thread - Toy Robot men based on giant robots based on previously mentioned toys about said robots

whats your thoughts on Transformers: Energon? i remember hating it since it was nothing like Armada and what they did to my boy starscream. the 3D animation was ugly as hell and i hated that one human character who had the worst case of daddy issues.
Energon the series was a travesty. Production quality was inconsistent and middling, the 2D animation portions; brief as they were, far outclassed the 3D models.

Energon the comic book series on the other hand... Was Is one of the greatest unfinished runs of a story which was building to a great conclusion. It stranded Optimus Prime in Unicron, put the planet under attack in multiple cities and wrote Kicker as more than a one-note Anakin Skywalker. A long-standing mystery is there are more machinations within cybertronian politics, which had quintesson manipulation (Avengers level threat stuff). The only hope for everyone? Megatron. That duel between Scorponok in the Yukon has to be one of the best fights between Transformers. Ever
.

Also Megatron's design being a cross between an X -Wing and Klingon bird of prey is a love letter and a brilliant nod to other properties. A G1 Galvatron-inspired robot mode in G1 Thunderwing's colors? It strangely worked and remains an enduring look for Megatron.

Today the new Transformers comic universe, the Energon Universe, was launched with Void Rivals #1 published by Image Comics. It's a shared universe that includes GI Joe and Transformers.

A certain Cybertronian scientist makes an appearance in Void Rivals #1, which is quite exciting. I think the first issue was quite interesting, and I can't wait to see where this goes. I hope they do something good with the Transformers in Void Rivals. Meanwhile, the first issue of the Image Transformers comic will come out in October 2023.

So like are the Dreamwave comics where they are a sequel to series or continue it

The Dreamwave comics are an alternate universe. For the Unicron Trilogy, the Dreamwave comics start with an alternate telling of the Armada show and then the unfinished Energon comics, an alternate telling of the Energon show, are a sequel to the Dreamwave Armada comics.

Sounds like the TFCon Orlando show will be a better show than the Baltimore one (I thought it was in Boston). I don't think anyone has ever talked about that one. I think the Baltimore one only got Pistolonyx as an exclusive too. Nice colour deco on it though.
Currently only Pinknews has complained on the first page of search results. Because of course they would. Not many places want to support pedophilia so close to elections.
It's nice that there's at least one show that's safe to take your kids to.

Only one more day until TFCon Toronto. Some okay exclusives. Looking forward to MB19c Huntsman. IF-01X Eris Armadon and the female Cy-kill colour of the Arcee mold will be nice to get too. Going to see what they all have at the Make-A-Wish auction, though I wish it was another charity. I don't like donating to human charities. Lots of animal charities to support. There should be some good 3rd party stuff shown at the event too.

Managed to get almost every exclusive minus the tape, though that will get a mass release minus the box.
Not that impressed with the 3rd party panel, though it's nice to see the Fans Toys Aerialbots and Stunticons finish up. Ocular Max Devestator doesn't look bad either. Colour renders of Fans Hobby of Jetfire look okay but I liked what I saw of Tidal Waves robot mode but he seems a little slender. They didn't show nearly as many things as they usually do. Probably to spread the love for the other TFCons.

San Diego Comic Con show be showing off some new Transformers on Thursday. Only things interesting to me though is the new Studio Series Commander class figure that will be shown (Really hope it's not a Rise of the Beasts figure but the rumored Ultra Magnus) and the new Generation figures. Though I have a feeling it's stuff we already know about but will have actual figures to show off instead of renders.

Engineering looks pretty decent but I do question those backwards facing knees and how long they'll last since they have to lift the whole figure up while it transforms. There seems to be a good market for these since there's four either released or in production with Megatron being the first Decepticon.

Picked up a collector-owned Masterpiece Shockwave dirt cheap thanks to some minor discoloration, and it looks like I wasn't gypped with a KO either. Gosh this is a fun figure, makes me wish I'd gotten into MPs before they started going for $200+.

Anyone have good (well, "acceptable for the price") experiences with KO MPs?

I hear that the ones using the Sideswipe mold are trash. Cassettes are hit or miss. M10 Primes are okay. Not sure what the new KO MP's are like.

Any figure channels out there that aren't ran by complete faggots? The only ones I like are the Chinese ones. It seems most of the English-speaking channels sugarcoat shitty products and love to hear their own voices. I'm seriously tired of it.

Never had an issue with Emgo, he'll tell you if something is trash. Same with Peaugh. Thew I just watch for the jokes and he tends to only review stuff he actually likes so they're rather biased. Kuma rarely uploads now. Japanese channels tend to only be good to watch some stop motion videos, some camera angles of figures, and sometimes a step by step guide of a transformation.

Pretty impressed with the new mainline Airazor, one of the best looking & feeling things Hasbro has put out in a while. still kinda miffed about the other mainline dudes all having brown or caramel inserted everywhere for no reason but it works quite well on her. really reminds me of the Animatros/Jungle Planet guys.IMG_20230720_150448.jpg

I finally read Void Rivals #2, and so far I'm still enjoying it. This issue expanded more on the alien conflict, which I enjoyed -- but I'd love to learn more about these two warring races. Additionally, a certain character, who has been featured comparatively less in Transformers stories, from the G1 cartoon appeared, which was super cool.

The art is crisp, colourful, and eye-catching. There was a page in this issue that was just beautiful -- you could look at it for hours and be totally captured by it! I think the art could have been more detailed in a few places, but overall I'm satisfied.
