While I like the look of bot mode and helicopter mode. Not a fan of some parts of the dune buggy mode and the faceplate. While toy accurate, I want a face like the cartoon.
Mech Fans Toys.

I prefer some of the 3rd party ones. This one is at least better than X-Transbots but that's not a high bar to reach.
Also, wrong place for the mirrors. Hi-Lux should have them near the windshield.

Its based off the Japanese model of the car, same reason why the honda city molds and alot of other mp carbots have the mirrors there, those japs love their hood mirrors.

So was the original Diaclone toy and it didn't look like that. There is a 1983 model that looks like that but the Diaclone toy is older than that.

all of the original diaclone molds are very boxy and somewhat stylized, and as far as I can remember, none of them have any rear view mirrors, hood style or door style, likely because of the small scale and the fragility it would cause.
I am also fairly certain the Trailbreaker mold was an 83 release in diaclone which lines up with the car model, from every catalog I can find he only appears in ones from 1983 and onward.

Ngl, this Energy Commander hits me in the nostalgia

I love the UT trilogy Optimus Primes, yellow eyes, new innovative designs, base modes on the first two, super modes that look distinct and different from the smaller robots.

He looks alot better than their Armada Prime, but something's still a little off about him.
I already have Grand Convoy and Wing Saber so I kinda doubt I'll pick this up, but they love their repaints so maybe they'll do Grand Scourge? could be into that.

Wow, that buggy mode is just awful. Literally looks like random spare parts tacked together. Are there any good triple-changers third party or otherwise that actually look good in all 3 modes?
That is Legends size so it's not that large, Blitzwing was decent for it's size, the turret should have come off though. Same with the Springer. The Octane only looked good in bot mode. Astrotrain has probably been the best in all three modes.

Masterpiece style triple changers have almost all been good except for Unique Toys early attempts. Almost everyone has done a good Springer, even this one cheap brand I forgot the name of. Fans Toys as a near perfect Astrotrain. No one has done a Broadside yet in any size.

Took a look at the Mechanic Studio Astrotrain and damn that’s a nice looking mold. I honestly think it looks better than the Fanstoys and the Siege, the Fanstoys bot mode just looks way too smooth and undetailed for MP scale while the Siege train mode is barely recognizable as a locomotive and the shuttle mode is just way too goddamn THICC.

Hell I like it so much that I literally just snagged a toy-deco version on Ebay for $50.

Might look that way to you because of the sold colour Thomas has in his altmodes. I prefer the Japanese and US colours

Japan has the better shuttle while I prefer US train.
Though if I can can only get a hold of the Japanese version then I'll do some paint work on it to make it look more like this

I think the bronze/ brass detailing would look good.

Will it have the same details as skids and old hasui mp's?
well it will most likely use the eventual Hoist tooling if/when they do diaclone repaints since Hoist was much more toy accurate.
Trailbreaker himself seems to be more in line with the other toon mps which is disappointing but expected.

This apparently will also transform. It stands 121cm tall.

If this is legit, it would work well for 1:18 scale.
