Transformers general thread - Toy Robot men based on giant robots based on previously mentioned toys about said robots

Megatron's very intentionally supposed to evoke the Nazis
Megatron as a character in general is usually a slightly simplified/tweaked version of his g1 toy character art. Said g1 toy art was a carry over from before he was even called megatron. He wasn't meant to evoke a nazi lmao.

You want to know the insane trivia if you didn't somehow already know this? The OG toy that later became g1 megatron was froma series that had it's own lore. And he was a good guy there! Soundwave, who the decepticon symbol was based on however, was ALWAYS part of the evil faction of transforming aliens in both the microman lore and the transformers lore. There were also OTHER gun transformers that didn't get brought over to the US (aside from bootlegs but that's another story)

Partly kind of wonder why with all the crazy crossover stuff that's happened with the takara/hasbro properties over the last 40 years they never did a crossover between transformers and microman or OG diaclone. Yeah I know the microman characters are supposed to be literally as small as the figures but it'd be interesting and it's kind of a no brainer when you got shit that's already had timeline crossover shit like transformers has since really early on.

Yes, but it's very likely that the reason they chose the Walther P38 to be the bad guy for the Transformers line is because of its association with Nazis. Additionally, while the helmet is a result of Floro Dery misinterpreting that artwork, the helmet flaring out in the back was a creative decision made by him and was likely because he viewed the Nazis as evil.

As for Takara crossovers, iirc they did a Microman figure of the kid from Energon(?) and included Microman style figures with some of the Micro Change originating eHobby reissues (I think Preceptor and his SG/Micro Change variant) and that last run of Alternity toys. There's also a TF/Diaclone/Zoids toy coming up as part of that T-Spark initiative, although outside of the Autobot insignia and having Optimus Prime's head, it's pretty much just a Diaclone Reboot take on a Zoids toy (which is still cool although I missed the boat on getting into Diaclone Reboot).

Something also interesting about megs, the silver version of the megatron toy with the stock and suppressor was based on a 1964 spy drama "The Man From U.N.C.L.E", which was featured on the CIA Museum Website.

>people not enjoying Optimus being done with shit after getting killed, revived in Africa, betrayed by his mentor, and dealing with the US gov’t

NOOoooOoooo Optimus!!!!
I love that. It’s very cathartic. People bitch about it in the same vein as Aragorn killing the Mouth of Sauron in Return of the King. Oh no, the war criminal is begging/ taunting the hero who he’s previously betrayed or is currently at war with? The hero killed him because there was no negotiation realistically going to happen?

Transformers is franchise that I loved as a kid (Beast Wars and Armada) and briefly get reminded of it. ONE was neat, I liked the idea of their being a war for the planet before their being a civil war.

Armada Megatron is my third favorite incarnation. Beast Wars is the best.

Movie Optimus always reminded me of Kingdom Come Superman, an older, darker shadow of the Reagan-era dad from the Sunbow cartoon. Movie Optimus is the one who failed, the world took his message and spat on it, killed his friends and took his sacrifice for granted.

The movies are popcorn slop but Optimus Prime’s big metal heart being broken is one of the few elements that gives them some slight legitimacy as films. Look at 2007 Optimus and then see AoE Optimus, the death of hope became a core Optimus arc in the other adaptations because it’s genuinely a good story.

2007 Optimus still wanted to save Megatron, he still had hope and a desire to unify their species, DotM Optimus is done with idealism, knowing that his dream is dead and Megatron/Sentinel killed any chance of their race being anything more than monsters to humanity.

Sentinel destroyed everything good in Optimus and that’s why Prime pulled the trigger.

Some more stuff regarding the activision Transformers games. There's this weird app that got updated on 19th november called "Transformers Advertising Franchise App"lakjdsflkjdaslkfjas.PNG
I have no idea as to the significance of this App, whatever it is. However, despite the fact that it says the app is hidden to the public, the Store link does bring you to somewhere:sdkgjjlsdkjg.PNG
Not sure if Devastation is shown for everyone, but it is for me. This app might tie into Hasbro stopping with funding movies and shifting priority to videogames instead, if i had to guess. Here's a link to the SteamDB page if you're curious.

I'm really fucking excited to see what happens when Elon buys Hasbro. The Twitter fandom's on suicide watch which is already a plus and I feel that under Elon's watch, Transformers would see a revitalization. We'll get licensed vehicle modes, we'll move away from DEI shit like Earthspark and Rise of the Apes, and hopefully he'll gut the company so we never have to see Bmac and his japslop ever fucking again. Genuinely just get an AI to choose characters from the Bayverse and you'd get a better Studio Series lineup than what we currently have. I know this is an unpopular opinion but I hate those fanstreams and the design team so fucking much they irradiate levels of soy I didn't know were possible. Not to mention when they bring in the fat nigger bitch.

No, Elon would kill Transformers. Things would be set to benefit scalpers more than ever since scalpers make line go up, the toys would be nonstop grimderp because he thinks that's cool, things for kids would be even more nonexistent than they are now (say what you will about Earthspark, but I have seen kids buying those toys, and they actually are fresh and original designs), and the "licensed vehicle modes" would all be Tesla vehicles, which is cringe. If Studio Series sucks now, that's because we no longer need it -- it should be wrapped into Legacy. If you think Transformers' current design team is soy incarnate, Elon is literally a soyboy idol, and his design team would get filled with guys who are obsessed with being "alpha" and grimderp and project their massive inferiority complex onto their toys. Of course, selfish little Elon only cares about himself and his interests (D&D), so he'd cancel Transformers within two years (sooner if it underperforms) to make way for ridiculous VR and AI white elephants that nobody cares about.

I mean, Elon's a Transformers fan. Just look at all the shit he's named Optimus. The only brand that would really struggle would be GI Joe since ARAH was arguably the first real attempt at indoctrinating children with cultural Marxism.

Let's be real, Elon will be more focused on WOTC instead of Hasbro. Of course he'd work with Hasbro but WOTC will be his main target maybe. Then again Elon is autistic so he'd probably be hyped for Transformers and will appear on every fanstream/announcement if he bought it.
