Transformers general thread - Toy Robot men based on giant robots based on previously mentioned toys about said robots

hiss tank megatron is not a great figure anyway, it may be big and the tank itself may be on point, but megatron is a holow mess that needs parts forming.
if they adjusted the bumper to be integrated with the chest of the robot then at least the "shield" would be part of the transformation and megatron would integrate with his alt mode more.

I know, that's why I wanted him on discount so I could mod him. That, and the fact that the last actually affordable HISS was locked to walmart exclusivity and aside from me finding a few of the HISS III at an ollies I'm at a drrought for affordable custom small vehicles to try getting into customizing in a way that doesn't require 3d printers. Basically getting it FOR the vehicle mode with the robot as an added bonus. Would need to do something about the hollow cockpit though if I did get it.
ALMOST got one for $30 at a weird discount store last year, but passed on it due to money concern reasons. I did a quick and dirty repaint with Krylon Fusion last year to one of the 3 hiss IIIs I got from The previously mentioned ollies to make it the colors of the regional exclusive variant, the Hyena, and was thinking of doing something similar to the HISS megatron but of a different uniquely colored HISS.

No reviewer has done it or even attempted it, but I'm pretty sure the fusion cannon can peg into the spots the smaller turrets peg into looking at photos. Could be wrong but they both seem to be 5mm holes. Then again a lot of them got it for free save for like some cases.

EDIT:Shit, I just remembered I still need to set up shelf space for the non transforming Shockwave and Soundwave HISS tanks I got off ebay for weirdly cheap around the start of corona times. neither have the figures tied to their respective box set, and I mildly fucked up applying soundwave's stickers (WHY WAS IT ALL STICKERS AAARGH) but I really really like them and am glad to have them.

cyberworld preview of the toys just dropped, and they look simple as fuck... but i for some reason dig the giant new skorponok. it looks perfect to force onto my daughter buy for her to fight my black zarak.
Are there even going to be any Deluxes? This is pretty disappointing considering they all look like evergreen designs. I love gimmicks too, but gimmick toys don't need to be THIS simple. What was standard engineering 20 years ago is now reserved for premium Haslab/Collaboratives, alas.

Ngl robot mode grimlock is kinda neat and i like the chaingun, it looks like something I would eat up as a kid, articulation and other shit collectors talk about be damned.

It would also make a cool BW megs retool.

Not Transformers but Metal Cardbot, a Korean transforming robot toyline with a cartoon, is at New York Toy Fair and will be coming to the US later this year. If they can keep the prices low, they're going to eat Hasbro for breakfast since these are very, very appealing to both kids and collectors (but then Japanese Sentai DXes are very, very expensive, so don't count on it). I'd hope that would make Hasbro get it together and turn things around; these are probably only being brought to the West since the Korean toy companies can see Hasbro steadfastly refusing to do anything new or really innovative toy-wise. The transformations are sadly very, very simple, and combined with the more cartoony designs, I fear these may be marketed as toddler toys like Imaginext, which will really maim this line. It also doesn't help that the big truck guy (which I don't see here) looks too much like Optimus.

Twin Mill looks really cool! I hope this succeeds and they do more Hot Wheels Transformers; this is a dream come true for me. Is the helicopter guy a redeco of Sunstreaker?

I'd like it as a kid (or current year adult) if the dinosaur mode wasn't a complete afterthought. They could have used just a tiny bit more budget and not had the legs be complete ass.

The pink truck looks like some shit out of kamen rider lmao. Fuck the entire bottom row save for the combiner looks like kamen rider shit from the last decade or so, actually. Wouldn't be surprised if there were shared artists like how I found out some weird medabots looking cheap import model kits I almost but didn't buy that weren't medabots had the medabots art guy behind them.

Interesting fact about that combiner, the limbs all transform into cards and not other robots as one would expect.

Unrelated to that though, I finally got my MPG-09 and plopping Ginrai into his slot is actually far more fiddley then it appears. You have to make sure his knees and waist are very specifically angled and make sure you really push him down until he clicks into place, or Super Ginrai's head won't be able to sit flush. Everything else is great though, can't wait til Godbomber comes out.

The robot mode for the hot wheels looks pretty shit, with lanky chest and calves and massive lower legs that seem to lack any ankle pivots. The car looks immaculate though, they seemed to go all out making the toy look like an oversizesd hot wheels. Besides that, Vortex looks quite solid and I really like the dude under him. I really dont care about onyx, his alt mode just looks like hes on all fours and thats it.
More pictures
More good looking Unicron Trilogy figures and some nice redecos.

Loyal Subjects also finally showed off some MASK figures and vehicles. The figures themselves look really good even if they're small.

We have more information on Metal Cardbot:

The pricing is similar to Transformers; the smallest ones will be as expensive as a Deluxe while the mid-size ones will be Voyager-priced. That's kind of disappointing since, even though they're great concepts, the engineering, articulation, and transformations are as simple as the original G1 toys (though I'm sure people will be happy about the ratcheted joints). I've heard the second wave has improved engineering and transformations. They're also being marketed to kids aged 7-13 and adults.

Very tempted to get some to repaint.
Going to get a few of those Hot Wheels guys to repaint as the G2 cars.

Dude it's gonna sound faggy but ignore the nay-sayers. Cuz we're still gonna criticize Hasnro for things. I criticize them for pricing and attempting to groom minors. You probably criticize them for not enough goon material or something. Bro's crashing out over a nothing burger, shows me how big his brain it: No bigger than a Gobot part

That large Sky/Jetfire figure looked good though. I might snag him when a Christmas sale happens. SS Bumblebee G1 is on clearance at my Walmart, but only slashed to 15 instead of 25. Not including the tax. I'm not sure if I wanna pull the trigger on him, but I'll think it over.

TF goodie bags were a hit at the place I donated them. Even made sure there were more 'boy' bags than girls. Just hoping that they know some rando gives a shit about them...

BTW that's how to help others out, influencers, you do it without posting it. Just do it.

i ended up getting this one because the shop had nothing but the they/them transformer in steep discount, but wanted to keep it for a rainy day to mess with it.
my kid sadly got her grubby hands on the box and ripped it out, so i ended up fideling with it.
it's not bad, the robot mode looks like something from my nightmares, but the owl is cute.
