Transformers general thread - Toy Robot men based on giant robots based on previously mentioned toys about said robots

yes and no. Stuff got under the key and can't get it out. Got a replacement keyboard ordered by a family member despite saying i could fix it, and then that had several broken keys and wouldn't connect and arguments broke out.
i'm copy/pasting the i for this post, been formulat ing poss ible workarounds that don't make th ings too tedious or multi stepped.

EDit: forgot to br ing th is up but the cannon com ing off on legacy armada megatron/galvatron is lore accurate but not for the shockwave hand g immick they gave him.
Could you use a lowercase L instead?

you know what im putting a video together about idw transformers and how much damages they did to this series.

Just need yall help.
Okay, I can give you a breakdown that isn’t just “THEY PUT FAGS IN IT!” Because my first TF comic was Escalation and I still mourn what could’ve been.

IDW TF was founded on being “Ultimate Transformers” and like Ultimate Marvel, specifically “Ultimates,” it was mini-series focused, reinvented shit and dared to be edgy and unique. IDW managment didn’t like the returns they were getting from the first few, Furman was doing a long game, as he always does, using the ideas he’d wanted to build to since G2. Nova Prime is the Liege Maximo concept reworked, @MirrorNoir is a fucking retard on this one. Furman had a big idea for the “Anti-Matrix” concept and he was building to the idea that this TF universe is unique, no matrix, no hope, Primes are a sham and more a formal rank than divine chosen. The idea was Nova had it in him when he went into the Dead Universe.

Management made him tie up his loose ends and they went with Shane Mcarthy’s “All Hail Megatron” hard-cutting back to G1 Sunbow designs and reshuffling. Furman would later get to do Regeneration One, which wasn’t just a continuation of Marvel G1, it was his TF career, personified, implementing some cutoff IDW concepts, like Hot Rod actually being badass, the matrix profaned (the creature in Regen is more like the Darkness than the Marvel version of the Entity), Bludgeon being a Thubderwing fanboy and so on.

This triggered a pattern of reshuffling every three to four years with new teams, (Mike Costa succeeded Mcarthy), who had no respect for their predecessors and because IDW was constantly struggling, this let in bad actors like James Roberts, the Windblade bitch who picked a fight with Furman and John Barber. Which lead to the Tumblr audience latching onto MTMTE, which the uptick in attention and possibly sales (I doubt it) led to Roberts running free with that series and going insane on his ego.

The final leads of Roberts, Scott and Barber went scorched earth in pissing off longtimers, killing characters for shock and spite, spitting on the main character of the franchise and making things worse. The Hasbroverse that was implemented was a management pet project that was forced in an attempt to compete with the big two, as IDW tried to do since their inception. It went poorly, with race swaps and other nonsense that sped up the death spiral to the Unicron event where they had to reset with a whimper.

Need anything else? DM if you want specifics.

Need anything else?

There's the stuff where characters were actually other characters th!ng. The stuff fram!ng some no name senator guy as ultra magnus when he was actualy shockwave wh!ch made sense !f you squ!nt at how the guy'schest was shaped but then there was the retarded tarn sh!t where they made h!m some guy that wasn't the guy he was h!nted at be!ng because people found out who he as supposed to be.

That crap was a combination of the two (Roberts and Barber) wanting to play with their toys but being constrained by the pre-existing mess of continuity that did not make any sense. Which is where Shockwave came in. They had a backstory in mind, they have a cutoff point where he gets introduced formally as cyclops, so now they had to bend the world to fit this inorganic concept.

Tarn was a case of Roberts being a primary reason why you should never hire fanfiction writers, he had all the OCs he introduced, ready to go, probably years in advance. His Star Saber characterization is from his UK fanfic days, Rung is from his novel and the body horror was a staple of that novel too.

Then they used identities as shock publicity (Onyx) and Barber went really hard on the atheist stuff which the universe was founded by Furman on the premise of “No Primus, No Unicron” due to the overruse of the two in the late 2000s. But for me, as a dedicated reader and pretty well-rounded person, I saw the hard-focus on deconstructing faith and mocking belief as unbelievably mean-spirited and arrogant, plus it wasn’t the medium to be discussing faith or morality, especially with Autobots who literally fought the most evil version of the Decepticons, in a war that was reminiscent of Halo and the UNSC’s struggle against the Covenant. Yeah, Slag killed some Decepticon protoforms, who would’ve grown up to be a part of the organization that were torturing POWs and doing all sorts of heinous shit (living landmines), it felt bizzare.

The morality of the universe was off too, the writers clearly sympathetized with the leftie-coded (after Roberts retcons) Decepticons who were fucking insane monsters who “didn’t do nuthin” and to further this, they even made them inhabit a ghetto and were every black stereotype, Optimus in his younger days even investigated a Floyd-murder and concluded the guy was piece of shit who should’ve picked better friends. Based, but it was presented as Optimus being a bastard.

Which the reader morality started conflicting with writer morality. Sentinel shows up, spews redpills, calling the OCs deformed colonist trash (true) and that a terrorist was in charge (true) and it was ridiculous Optimus allowed this. Sentinel was written as a Trump expy and I remember the /co/ celebration of Sentinel voicing every reader (not Tumblr or TFW2005) view that the books lost the plot.

On the topic of comics. It makes me think about a alternate timeline where Dreamwave never went bankrupt and IDW didn't get the permits from Hasbro to create Transformers comics.

Now for something completely unrelated. I think most people here know what Transformers Rise of the Dark Spark is. Made in about 6 months, it's terrible prequel/sequel to one of the best Transformers games. But it turns out development for the game didn't solely stem from Activision hiring a studio that wasn't nearly as experienced compared to High Moon Studios. Rise of the Dark Spark was supposed to be a completely different game compared to the final result and as i was watching a review about the game, there were two comments that i found interesting

Third bonus comment that isn't relevant but i found hilarious nonetheless.

While the comments are interesting, there isn't a concrete way of identifying both the comments as former developers of the game. Except for the fact that there's actually a page dedicated to Rise of the Dark Spark from someone who was heavily involved during its creation which solidifies the factual status of the youtube comments. You can read all of it here. Archive of the page can be found here.

While i'm not going to post the entire website's page here. There's one part of the recollection i wanted to dissectwjhikfjhekwrjtg.webp
While he does admit he's only reciting what was told to him, which isn't his fault, it also happens to be usual Activision deceit. High Moon Studios wasn't exhausted working on the Transformers games. After Fall of Cybertron, Activision had them work on a Deadpool game (a terrible idea in 2013, especially since the movie didn't release until 2016). Supposedly it costed 100 million to make, although i sincerely doubt that number. Not that it matters, because the game was a spectacular failure. Activision got angry at High Moon Studios and forced them to work on CoD, instead of having a introspection and telling them to make a new Transformers game instead. But hey, at least they weren't disbanded, right?

The NFL helmet figures are nice looking. In bot form they look like they could be cars. Still can't post any photos here sadly. I hope they do a real sport like Hockey one day.

got an order for the dreamwave megatronus in finally, and the armada galvatron came today but haven't opened the thing yet. seriousiy dealing with scalpers and stock shit's just hell these days. that and price! if i wasn't so selective my ass would be in hell! why the fuck is everything fucking 30-60 dollars? Not tariffs, they upped prices BEFORE those!

EDit: forgot to mention this but the armada galvatron was REALLY cheap too, not go ing around paying over $100 for 2 figures in such a short timespan. fuck i HATE the 54.99 price of chunky voyagers now. No they aren't leaders. grimlock's leader class, most "leaders" are now just a normal height voyager with almost the chunk of the old figures.

Depending on the price I might pick up one based on my local team.
Edit: There are plans to do all 32 teams over the coming years.

I will pay any price for an updated Universe Megazarak using the Legacy Armada Megatron mold.

Universe Razorclaw is coming next year / end of this year, come on Hasbro, make it happen!
