Transformers general thread - Toy Robot men based on giant robots based on previously mentioned toys about said robots

never got those but did the symetrical docking guys come with the parts to form a full combiner?
I don't think I recall any GGG guys, as those would have been the only ones I'd have a snowball's chance in hell of recognizing back then.
pretty sure I saw who I would later know to be the Not Dinobots bad guys from one of the Elderans as a four-pack?

Tarn was a case of Roberts being a primary reason why you should never hire fanfiction writers, he had all the OCs he introduced, ready to go, probably years in advance. His Star Saber characterization is from his UK fanfic days, Rung is from his novel and the body horror was a staple of that novel too.
I'm young enough that I grew up thinking the whole "Star Saber being evil in fanfics" originated from the IDW canon 🙃

I remember seeing a bootleg called Starholler at a dollar store and I deeply regret not buying it

I always buy bootlegs when I see them; IDK what it is about Transformers bootlegs, but their boxes/names/titles/etc. are always batsh!t.

On the topic of Transformers and politics, I scanned the back of a dollar store Ultra Magnus (? IDK he has a headmold similar to Blaster) bootleg that has an especially lulzy garbled synopsis of the Cybertronian war:

Ah, yes, the true cause of the Decepticon's rise to power - Autobot interparty fighting 🤣

Got my Omega Prime. He's currently towering over Super Ginrai and Legacy Armada Prime on my desk. Totally worth the money. There's a couple bits that are pretty fiddly, and some of the collapsing bits (namely Optimus's torso slide and Magnus's wings) are insanely stiff to the point I thought I was missing a release button or something when trying to push them down. I've yet to figure out this built-in "fan mode" they mentioned for using all of Prime's super mode bits on Omega though. He's also going to need some glue or nail polish to tighten up the friction on a couple pegs too. one of the light bars on Prime is really loose, and the wheel covers by his knees could use some too.

One feature I didn't get to see in action in any of the teasers before is how much better Prime's backpack is since the electronics weren't carried over. His head flips out of it, it has space made for Magnus's arms to tuck in, AND they added a fold out part to reinforce Prime's waist in his combined forms. Very well done.

It seems like the strength of the torso joint and the thinness of the abs can cause breakages.

I hate how everything significant relase wise is locked to haslab bundles now and when shit like this happens it makes it even worse for the people who COULD afford the fucking high prices for each yearly pre-order bundle that comes out a year or 2 after the announcement every time.

Megatronus has gone in and out of stock several times since my order and he still hasn't fucking shipped. currently out of stock aside from pre orders on slightly marked up places doing the fucking "oh well tariffs" excuse but I'm sorry I'm not paying 74 dollars or some shit for a "leader" figure that's just another voyager class size wise but too wide for the standard voyager box. I'm hoping this doesnt end up like what happened with everything else I've ordered online where it somehow cancels weeks after and then scalpers have like 5 of them and are very likely employees that just stole stock and cancelled orders.

Depending on where you are Gamestop might have it instore.

I am incredibly pissed off about the fact target had a sale I passed up on due to family member who was with me talking me out of it with"why do you need that tho" constantly. I explain obviously that I don't need it and that it's on sale for 50 dollars and I have a 30 dollar target gift card from over a year ago on top of gift money I never spent and the standard price is near 90 and scalpers keep buying and selling the individual figures on ebay for over 70 each. I had a last chance today to do so and once again got fucked out of it by scheduling and of course now I'll never afford it because 80 is way out of my price range fuck the world the cards probably gonna fucking expire before I ever find anything worthwhile to fucking spend it on that I can't get elsewhere for cheaper ever again. I don't NEED the figures but I wanted them and NEED to vent somewhere about this. Spent a whole ass year waiting for a discount or actual stock to show up near me and now I lost that chance. Hate it.

It was the prime cliffjumper 4 pack in case you somehow didn't know. 2 of the 3 copies they had had some form of weird defect and I know the one I was gonna buy won't be there next time I go, sick and tired of throwing every opportunity away in life to try not to emotionally inconvenience people only to then result in everyone being more miserable anyways because i'm "so negative". Hate how easy I cave under pressure to not go through with anything when someone I care about starts passive aggressively shitting on it. Not tied to the figures, just one of many examples. Probably would be in a lot better place if I didn't do that so often honestly. I fucking hate how expensive shit is these days man hate it so fucking much.
Post might be a bit incoherently rambly, I'm just kinda dying these days.
Just steal the figures like I do lol.

Another QC issue for the list, those small fins are what create friction for the torso joint, it seems like the torso joint is too big and can damage/break the fins.

I wonder if it's like the hasbro transmetal megatron where it's a combo of the plastic used being cheap and brittle and the joint fin things being too big. We're not gonna have a takara release to fix it that then gets scalped for 3 times the price after people find out like that one though, just actual rancid QC shit that's unfixible. Thanks haslab!

Reports are coming in that Ultra Magnus is yellowing out of the box for some people.

You'd think Hasbro would have gotten its' sh!t together after the Haslab Victory Saber fuck ups? (i.e. yellowing, limbs broken in box, etc.)

Since 2021, I've had waaay too many of my figures turn bright yellow out of the box. Nowadays I just wait until after things get released (even if it means having to pay scalpers fee's) to see how figures hold up.

Anyway, for some more lighthearted news, I went to my local Hispanic market the other day (which is always filled with bootleg toys/soccer jerseys/knockoff shit) and took a photo of a bootleg combiner:

Would have bought it if the store had the entire set.

The gray part is too large, and they didn't round its corners meaning it gets caught on the fins and breaks them. The solution is to disassemble the chest and sand down the gray part until it moves smoothly.

Edit: Transmetal Megatron suffered from Gold Plastic Syndrome which was an issue with a lot of figures until about a decade ago.
