A fatal pedestrian collision involving a C-train in NE Calgary leads to shuttle-bus chaos for Wednesday morning commuters at the Franklin LRT station with some calling the scene a mob mentality of people trying to board busses. Phoenix Phillips reports.

Calgarians commuting into downtown Wednesday morning saw major delays due to a fatal collision between a pedestrian and a CTrain

Calgary police tells 660 NewsRadio officers were called to the Bridgeland LRT Station around 7 a.m. for reports of an incident between a person and a CTrain.

Police say in a statement following an investigation, that the incident appears to be non criminal and “more of a tragic accident.”

In a post to X just before 7:30 a.m., Calgary Transit said Blue Line trains were running behind schedule due to a police matter. It later said trains had been shut down between Bridgeland and Franklin stations. Shuttle buses were put in place in those areas to accommodate riders.

Service resumed between Bridgeland and Franklin stations just after 9:30 a.m.

Callers to the 660 NewsRadio traffic centre reported significant backups on westbound Memorial Drive for several hours.

Maybe it was one of those situations where someone is waiting for the train to pass by on the track immediately in front of them and, when it's finally passed, they start crossing immediately not thinking that there could be a train coming the other way on the other track? Ideally, of course, there are railway crossing gates that would still be down for the train coming in the other direction but that's not always the case for pedestrian crossings, especially ones in stations.

Yeah, and there's some videos showing pedestrians still crossing despite then a train is coming like this one.

It was in Calgary's NE, which is largely Pajeetville and has been for decades, so odds are pretty good.

Pretty much all of the transit line is above ground and suicides and accidents from people not paying the fuck attention is pretty common.

EDIT: The footage of where the train was stopped makes me think crossing accident rather than suicide.

Suicide by passenger train isn't really news. It probably happens every other day in the States, not to mention in Poojeetistan. The only place you're likely to see it remarked upon is in the morning/evening traffic reports.

Nonetheless, I would highly recommend watching the video in the OP. A fascinating behavioral study of some of the "newer" Calgarians. Just watch the way they swarm around the rail replacement bus as it pulls away lol

All these poor Canadians are going to be late to hockey practice. They might have to resort to eating Kraft Dinner if they don't get home in time to make some poutine.

In my area it's mostly drunk homeless getting hit by trains, but we don't have poor pajeets yet. Our pajeets are H1B visa IT workers in leased cars who can't drive worth a shit.

"Fatal collision"

Knock it off with the feel-good obfuscations, call it like it is if you want people to stop doing it...

"Dude got hit by a train"
