ISTANBUL, Oct 9 (Reuters) - Turkey has blocked access to instant messaging platform Discord following a court decision, the country's infotech regulator said on Wednesday.
Turkey's Information Technologies and Communication Authority (BTK) published the access ban decision on its website.
Turkish Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc said a court in the capital Ankara decided to remove access from Turkey to San Francisco-based Discord due to sufficient suspicion that the crimes of "child sexual abuse and obscenity" have been committed.

"We are determined to protect our youth and children, from the harmful publications of social media and the internet that constitute crimes. We will never allow attempts to shake the foundations of our social structure," Tunc also said in a post on X.
The access ban decision comes after public outrage caused by the murder of two women, perpetrated by a 19-year-old man earlier this month.
Following the incident, content on social media showed some users of Discord were praising the killing which led to public outrage against certain communities on the platform.

On Tuesday, Russia's communications regulator blocked Discord for violating Russian law, after previously fining the company for failing to remove banned content, the TASS news agency reported.

Thank God the government is telling people what software they're allowed to use. For their own good, of course.
Freedom is great, specially when you live in a righteous society, where people have morals and parents care about their children and what they do
But when society degenerates and becomes tolerant (and even encouraging) of troons, those troons will use freedom as a weapon to corrupt the children - as is their nature

I agree with the sentiment in regards to freedoms and liberties being taken away, but this is also beneficial in a way if you consider it.

Take for example the China - US tism going on. China outwardly bans their officials and citizens from using certain software and hardware due to the risk of espionage and the such. In response the US does the same. How does this help you, the consumer? Take a look at both sides and if it's reasonable, blacklist both from your personal life, or at the very least if you can't avoid using one always remember it's bugged and at any point can be hacked/spied on.

If neither side was open about it, you would have a much harder time knowing what is and isn't compromised.

They should be blaming parents instead of banning programs. Otherwise its just the same old "the government will decide what's good for you" nonsense that's slowly choking the entire planet.

Yes, they SHOULD be blaming parents for letting their kids be groomed by trannies...
... but parents don't know about the grooming trannies, because you can't talk about it anywhere without getting banned
In a just society, I would be able to talk about grooming troons and pinkpilling on youtube/reddit/twitter. Parents would have access to this information and they would not allow their children to interact with these people and groomers would be arrested.
But if I do that I will either get banned and silenced, or at best, get called a conspiracy theorist transphobe by main stream media and dismissed by the average normie.

Unfortunately, when you limit my freedom to hate troons, the the next logical step for having a productive civil society is to limit everybody's freedom of speech.

You take a backwards Arab shithole, for example: the reason why these countries do not have freedom is not because they have an "evil government", but because they have a corrupt and evil society that cannot function unless you take away their freedom.
Arab men are such sexual deviants that women have to wear burquas and be completely submissive to their men, otherwise they end up gang raped just like they do in Europe, or like jeets do to each other India. If you give these people too much freedom, you end up with Bacha bazi or blackmailing Hijras
That's where society end up when society cannot control their sex pests, you have to create laws to do it instead. Not because it's for the people's "own good" but because that's the only logical step you can take to solve these issues.

The state can't enforce morality, they can only enforce laws. The more immoral the society, the stricter the laws.
I love freedom, I think it's the greatest ideal mankind can strive towards.
But you can't have absolute freedom if your society is corrupt, otherwise society destroys itself

Its easy to say “tThe parents should have been monitoring their kids more” while doing nothing to stop online predation.

I think most people severely underestimate how easy it is for predators to find victims, especially with closed communication platforms such as Discord. Back in ye old days, when people were using websites such as Myspace or online forums in general, predators were a lot easier to spot and chase out. In the world of the De-centralized internet, administrators were able to nip the problem in the bud.

Nowadays? Most victims are only a few clicks away. And in discord, its easier for a predator to not only psychologically isolate their victims but also to groom them.

The people running Discord could have done something about the pedo rings, but chose not to. The rings exist because they're allowed to exist.
