A lot of these people donating to charities and shit and then getting scammed are kids with their first paychecks. It’s 17 year olds working at target. And shit like that.
I feel like 17-year-old me wouldn't have fallen for this, maybe if I was 12.

Twitch is definitely hurting bad. I've been on the platform since 2014 and I've gone through three "eras" of following streamers. I'll do some digging and find about a dozen or so people whose content is fun and their personality meshes with mine and gradually one by one they eventually get burned out and stop streaming. So I'll do another round of searching/following and over the years that new group of streamers will tire out etc. I'm just about at the end of the third round and I've been idly looking for new people to follow but this time... there's not really anyone left. There isn't any fresh new blood to replace the streamers who are dropping out.

I also stream on Twitch myself and viewership has tanked big time. I never had a big stream but 2018/2019 was probably my most fruitful year. I averaged about 40 viewers just fucking around playing retro games and shooting the shit with viewers but now I'm getting like 15, 20 on a good day. People just aren't using Twitch anymore.

The pure idiocy with the various scams by OF bitches trying to shill themselves and Twitch's laughable responses to each has annihilated the good will.

Same boat, really.

There came a point where I just went nah, not doing this anymore, too much energy for diminishing returns. which is shame because streaming was fun and engaging once you curate enough of a consistent crowd of regulars, especially when you carve out a little kingdom in a niche category. Getting money on the side for playing like an inebriated retard was always nice. I do feel for the people trying to hit affiliate status, it's gotta be such an uphill slog now more than ever before.

Then there's the looooong discoverability problem where twitch thinks organically driving interest to new features is to give them to top earners who... never use them or are even aware they exist most of the time. Kinda flies in the face of trying new shit to help the churn outside of the top channels.
Same as you, once the streamers I frequent are done my traffic there ends too.

Never good when sideshow act burns down the circus.

I'm shocked a streaming platform has 500 employees to begin with, much less 500 to spare. Are they all HR trying to avoid all the tranny streamers to unalive?
Bay area tech hiring practices for the last 10 years or more has been one dickhead bringing all his buddies over to a new company so you got a ton of redundant idiots in every area but specially in non-tech.

12 me wouldn't have wasted his money on this shit, charity its for adults.

It always seemed like a fad, like something people only watch because their friends are watching but since most of the audience was, lets be honest, kids, they grew up and got tired of this, like with any other fad.

LSF jannies announce that they will be hosting a AMA with Josh Wolf, the journalist who exposed the Softgiving situation, on Saturday, 11AM EST. (L/A)

Shocking coming from the OTK-worshipping mods of LSF who removed the thread containing Asmongold's reaction to the drama.

If there's anyone I trust to arbitrate an unbiased take on a sensitive and controversial matter it's reddit jannies.

This'll be good.

Ask me anything... sanctioned by the moderators who probably will look to make these giant streamers as peerless as possible.

I sure hope they keep his pronouns bold in the title so no one Hecking misgenders they/them.
Remember that Reddit would rather $200 billion go out of the hands of needy children and into the pockets of a handful of greedy streamers then have a single person have to suffer the genocide that is being misgendered.

>big streamers representing big corporations steal from and lie to people and their charities are all scams

How are people even surprised?
Every person over ~20 years of age in 2024 should know well enough 2 things that are common sense:
-charities are all scams 99% of the time, with very very very few exceptions. The exceptions are usually small charities led by small group of people, for example the school gathering money for a sick classmate.
-streamers are all dishonest lying bastards, no exceptions. Even the ones that seem cool and based and down on earth are playing into this persona for one single purpose - to milk retards out of their money.

Anyone over 20 who is still surprised by these news should be forced into government issued birth control.
If you ever want to reproduce, you go through series of thorough tests, one of them being monitoring the emotional response while watching twitch streamers: unless your blood boils when you hear these retarded faggots speak, you remain castrated.

Why does anyone watch this guys’ videos? Seems like all he does is react to events in a dead monotone voice, was he ever known for anything else?
He used to be funny back in the day before he revealed his face and blew up. Back then his content was 5-7 minute videos of obscure shitty games with his trademark monotonous voice and deadpan AVGN style commentary. Here's one of my favorites:

A streamer by the name of Boggles1 decided to try out Internet fame, by sticking a fucking fork in a toaster.

Shockingly, he survived this incident, and then, of course, decided to DO IT AGAIN BUT WITH TWO TOASTERS AND TWO FORKS.

also...
