🐱 University of Chicago says "GTFO trigger warnings and safe spaces"

In a welcome letter to freshmen from the incoming class of 2020, Dean of Students John Ellison told students something they wouldn't hear on most other liberal arts college campuses: “We do not support so called ‘trigger warnings’... and we do not condone the creation of intellectual ‘safe spaces.’” Ellison warned students that while they may experience “discomfort” at times, the school’s “committment to academic freedom means that we do not support so called ‘trigger warnings,’ we do not cancel invited speakers because their topics might prove controversial, and we do not condone the creation of intellectual ‘safe spaces’ where individuals can retreat from ideas and perspectives at odds with their own.”

As this is thankfully & rightfully happening now, this needs to also continue to be happening everywhere... This is a fight worth fighting - someone's gotta trigger these people to believe in more than one viewpoint, which SJWs fail to get.

I wouldn't be surprised if now's the time to do what UoC is doing, otherwise it's too late.

When a University starts to shut out certain thoughts and turns itself into an echo chamber for one kind of people, it soon loses ground towards a university that remains an open minded place of discourse, debate and -you guessed it- free speech.
Within the next few years, I wouldn't be surprised if all the Universities that eagerly swallowed the poison of SJ causes, will eventually be unable to do anything, since they are lost in an endless struggle to make everybody happy and untriggered - and as we have seen, that is never truly the case.
The moment the University starts solving some issue, a hundred people will point out their pet peeves and claim it's the biggest civil rights issue since the holocaust. And inevitably, these things will oftentimes run at cross purposes, ultimately tangling up the University and its authority in meaningless power struggles of certain individuals that want to get their way and their way exclusively.

Sure, they'll have an influx of students that avoid places like the UoC, however these Universities are no longer places of learning or studying, they are the battling grounds for the oppression olympics of the future.

So it's crucial to drop this bullshit as soon as possible, otherwise it might be too late.
The real world doesn't care about someone's coping classes where he learned how to deal with white guilt. When a place, that used to be well-known for the quality of its education, starts churning out same-minded SJdrones, big companies will just gladly pick students from other universities, who learned such mundane things as international business administration or engineering or something else that aactually has an economical value outside of begging for patreon bucks.

And the sooner Universities distance themselves from this travesty of a movement, the better.

The University of Chicago has long had a reputation as conservative, by academic standards, particularly its law school. This is still liberal by normal people standards, though, and they're apparently one of the few institutions of higher learning willing to stand up for classically liberal virtues like freedom of speech, even in the face of a wave of barbarism.

I hope that this will soon spread across the entire Western world and "Trigger Warnings" will become a thing of the past. These trigger warning people do really do treat what they call "trigger warnings" like portable wombs with the same illusionary belief like an infant that nothing can harm you as long as you're in your safespace.

I can only hope that one day historians will look upon the SJW movement, and react to it the same way they do to Colonel Custer's last stand: Laugh their asses off and say, "Oh, right. That happened."

Yeah, their idea of "Trigger Warnings" is "Pinochet's death-squads will fucking shoot you".

Aren't their idiots in the south of the US that still believe that the South won or that there is an impending succession just around the corner?

Seriously, college is the one place where you're supposed to be exposed to new ideas and concepts. You don't have to change your mind on every single issue (or really any at all), but it's still good to be challenged and to reflect on why you believe certain things.

Colleges have always been- and must continue to be- places where freedom of speech and thought is upheld.
