This is why I hate playing video games on pc. Something stupid always happens. The firewall is not letting me play the game.

I already had this problem when I first installed it, and now every time I stop playing it for a while and try to play it again this same thing happens. The game won’t load because of a firewall. I turned off the firewall and then the e electricity turned off during a storm. Something happened it’s not letting me turn off the firewall. And it’s not letting me delete the firewalls

I don’t understand. How do you play vampire masquerade bloodlines on steam on pc? The firewall keeps turning on by itself and it won’t let me play the game. I had the game working for a while but somehow the firewalls turned back on again. It seems like the pc settings itself even changed because it’s not letting me turn off firewalls again.

Every time I try to play this game it takes me like an hour to try to get it working again it’s so frustrating

Well, for some basics, have you tried running the game as an administrator or setting it to compatibility mode for earlier versions of Windows?

I have Bloodlines on Steam as well and I've never had an issue with it working. Of course, I immediately install the community patch first like @0 0 recommended too. You can disable the restored content stuff if you just want to play the vanilla game, but the bug fixes and QOL updates to get it working on modern hardware is pretty much recommended.

I'm more impressed you got it to run without the fanmade patch. Can you also get Thief cutscenes to play without installing the commie codec pack?
I have the first three Thief games on GOG and they’ve all been updated to work on modern hardware without any community patches. Plays fine with just installing the base game.

Like the above posts have said, just install the Unofficial Patch and run the game through it's .exe, the game might as well be unplayable without it. That's 2004 game coding for you.
