This game released to basically no fanfare despite the Mana series having a fairly cult classic feeling to many. The game is MASSIVE. Not necessarily 'open world' but very large maps. Action RPG with a bit of a menu system that is quick almost like Chrono Trigger. Different elemental moves keep it flashy and varied.

:wow: that is some real youtuber-tier voice acting. I can't wait to hear more of it.

It's worse than I thought. Hopefully you can play with Japanese audio.

The company that made it (Ouka) closed already, so that’s not a great sign.
The developer was shut down because it's chinese owned and they are moving away from japanese inspired games.
This. It's fucking terrible. They immediately shut it down, and left a skeleton crew to fix any final issues before its demise.
I mean, I could be wrong, but from what I've been hearing, preorders were downright abysmal, so that could play into why they were shut down that early.

It sucks lol. I really feel like the mana series is nostalgia bait at this point. What once was adored is now despised
the Trials remake was cute. A 3-4 hour campaign replayed several times for different perspectives. I was kinda looking to get into Mana more than that, but these 'remasters' seem to muddy the legacy.

I've recently been replaying Seiken Densetsu 3 (the original, not the shitty remake from a few years back) and I've been having quite a bit of fun with it. Can't say I'm really surprised to see this one get the lukewarm reception it's gotten. Square hasn't been what they used to be for decades now. It is more than a bit disappointing to see Chinese money affecting the industry in this way.

With this and Trials i kept saying to myself that they're all missing something.....but what

Nothing to bring me out of the Secret of Mana remake like the main character referring to Sprite as a "they" at the end

I read about that. But I don't know how correct it's really supposed to be. I've read he does use "boku" and "ore" in the Japanese version. Although that doesn't mean the speaker has to be male. But when I played the game on SNES I swear he was referred to as male. And I always thought of him as such.

The whole they/themlet nonsense is just too newtarded for me in general.

the promotional media were pretty good.
Promotional media seldom has any bearing on the quality of the product.
In fact, if they overbudget for it, that's usually a sign that they're trying to polish a turd.
