If you want to go on there for fun to play any of the multiplayer VR games, entering a public instance on any of these guarantees you will run into some snot-nosed brat. There's a slight saving grace, however, that most VRchat players, degenerate or not, really DON'T want to deal with kids in the game. People actively create groups to exclude minors so they can play without needing to babysit or creating an environment that enables groomers. There are highly populated NSFW VRchat "ERP" servers, and surprisingly, they actually have some kind of ID verification to join (even if its sending an image your government issued ID to some rando on a discord server, which nobody should be comfortable doing).
The degeneracy is definitely on Second Life level. When I used to play, I met a BPD whore who would yap about her clients from E-Pal to me all the time. Lonely dudes who will just pay for a girl to be in the same VRchat instance as them.
But if you like mentally ill women, you can find one on VRchat, no problem! I'm not familiar enough with it to make a post worthy of adding to the OP but Flirtu.al is another "VR dating site" like NeverMet, but you can use it on a PC instead of with an app. I've seen some profiles from there from users who are proudly broadcasting a whole paragraph's worth of mental illnesses and other redflags.
The major problem is that VRchat is used as a networking tool to draw people into discord servers. It's the illusion of knowing someone just because you heard their voice and saw their VRchat model.

Anyone who gets defensive and upset over a video reasonably criticizing and showing hard evidence of the game being the last place any minor should step a thousand miles in are already on my suspicion list. I'm not the guy to usually do assumptions but when a game I've personally seen house some really questionable individuals left and right and these hundreds of videos showing the strongest proof of those individuals being practically rampant on the platform, I can't help but raise an eyebrow around these people.
Also, recording others on VRChat isn't exactly wrong. Don't want to interact with them? Block them and move on. That's it. It's just an avatar recording another avatar. Like someone said on a VRChat video I watched, "It's pixels taking pictures of another pixel". Your privacy isn't being breached nor is your livelihood.
