Warframe

You can still break up with whoever you're currently dating, but you'll need to ask Arthur to give you another chance.
Ya know, if there were more than a few lines it wouldn't be as annoying, but I can only take "Can you imagine how many laws we're breaking by being together?" before I go insane.

Newfag (& I mean pretty damn new) here, should I get this?

It's a decoration that requires another item from nightwave shop to enter it for a boss fight, from said boss you can get this weapon: https://warframe.fandom.com/wiki/Vitrica

It has a gimmick, so I would first see if that's something you like. Otherwise you might find one of the reactor blueprints more desirable.
I know the boss's gimmick. Honestly the sword is the only reason this even looks good. It's just not feeling worth enough to get an extra item just to access the battle for the sword too.

The cost isn't that high, so if you want the sword then get it. You can always get reactors or most other nightwave items by selling couple primes, but the sword can only be obtained through rotating weekly shop and nightwave currency.

As I said before, I'm very far behind, like I haven't completed the Mercury Junction yet. Hell, I literally reached Mercury today (there's an autistic reason behind it, it could be summed up with Jackal skill-issue). My thought was that one could battle him for free once after buying the decoration, get the sword, & then has to get additional keys for the future fights (to grind for Riven Mods).

My original plan was to use it's glass projectile thing & make it like my pseudo-Xoris (aka Melee with projectile uses) before I get to the Xoris. That, & most importantly, Vitrica looks very cool, which makes sense cause it's a big-ass black blade with gold on it, that turns it's enemies to glass.
You should. The sword is great. Vitrified enemies take astronomical damage from heavy slams.
Yeah, I heard it's the strongest heavy blade in game.

That's actually my plan cause this is the only exclusive thing in the shop at the moment (Vauban is grindable in the future, Dark Sword is the only "good" weapon on NW, the mods (up at the moment) honestly suck, I'm too new to care about cosmetics. The only useful things are the potatoes). Also, only the decoration is being sold, not any keys.

I have been playing on and off since 2013, but I am just now starting to get seriously invested. How do you distinguish good weapons from bad ones? I want to try and learn to make my builds for stuff and know what's good w/o having to rely on YouTubers or shitty overframe builds. I unlocked steel path and just want something I can start doing star chart again with that isnt too high investment.

I personally think a lot of the "good guns" in the game aren't obvious and require a lot of investment in the right direction. Other than that most builds you will be making are crit (vital sense, critical delay, hunter munitions) or depend mainly on your warframe to really shine. And I know that you said you didn't want to rely on youtubers, but I'd suggesting watching some of the stuff in this playlist because dude actually goes way off meta and I think I've only copied one build verbatim and I do pretty well for myself. Also make yourself a primer and that will take you pretty far.

To me, the good guns are the ones that don't feel shitty to use. Numbers can be fixed with sufficient investment in most cases, but there's no way to fix a gun that feels like you're punching bad guys in a dream.

Phage can put out big numbers, but any weapon that starts out with divergent beams that you have to wait to focus just feels terrible to use. Convectrix is the same. Meanwhile, stats-wise, Burston Prime is just a middle-of-the-road rifle as far as stats go, but its extremely accurate and quick burst mode feels really nice to use, and with enough modding, it's effective in SP (even more with Incarnon).

Just as a heads-up to new or returning Tenno: there's an accessibility option in the settings that lets semi-automatic weapons (including most burst-fire guns) fire as long as you hold the trigger. It is much easier on your fingers.

It also dramatically boosts the DPS by using the minimal delete between shots. You're not going to reasonably do that on semi auto mode.

Ive really been enjoying styanax and cyte 09. I think my next frames im gonna work towards are inaros and gauss. As far as weapons go I've been using corinth prime and just swapping stuff in and out for the mastery since sty mostly just spams his 4 and cyte uses his sniper. The walls I'm hitting so far are SP circuit and the kuva lich railjack mission. I didn't know what I was doing when I made my lich so he's just got a kraken and Ive been pushing off doing that mission since my railjack isn't all that developed.

True, however I would argue that a lot of good guns feel shitty to use right off the bat. Like the Stahlta with arcane acceleration/prime shred can actually use its alt fire without you just standing there for four seconds. Similarly the Battacor, Ocucor, Knell and Nagantaka feel super underwhelming when you get them initially, but once you learn their quirks (or get Ocucors mod) they quickly skyrocket into room deleters.

I've played this game on and off for a while but only recently started to get more serious about playing it. I used to just do starchart shit as well as relics, only recently started doing loads of quests.

And it fucking sucks.

Can someone who's an oldhead in this game please explain why the fuck DE struck absolute gold with the whole space-ninja-robot shit, but then immediately do their best to railroad you into NOT playing that part of the game?

Sure, muh loooreee and muh story.
But if you don't care about that (I don't really care much) why the fuck do I get blocked from progressing further by retarded ass quests featuring systems I don't want to engage with, systems that take me away from the entire reason I play this fucking game.

The new mechanics with the new quest like 1999 do suck I agree. Really it serves as a surface level vehicle to get you interested in the story. Most of the actual meat is buried throughout the game in places like leverians and shit. Most of the quests can be blamed on Steve and co before they fucked off to do soul frame. I you can put the 1999 stuff on rebecca. I personally don't have much of an issue with it but maybe that's because I play shit like guild wars 2 and mabinogi. I disagree that they railroad into not playing space ninja robots because like 95% of the shit is space ninja robots. If have any complaints most of that can be put on Steve. It's slow but Rebecca and Pablo have done more for the game for the few months she's been in charge than we would have gotten. Can't be a space ninja if your space ninja dog perma dies every mission and you gotta baby sit it.

Speaking of dog. For anybody that has been tinkering around with summoners wrath, try it on Khora with arcane blessing, bellicose, and cracking out venari with tandem mods. Pair with a kubrow with the tandem mod that spreads skill effects when they get damaged by companions. Venari can easily clear out a group of steel path enemies if it's close enough.

Thank you for waiting. I just farmed all the Kuva and Tenet weapons over the last couple months, and I can't tell you how annoying it is to finally go to kill your nemesis and the host has never done RJ missions and is flying an unmodified railjack that explodes in 2 seconds and can't even scratch the small ships, so it takes an hour to board the ship if you don't ragequit or get host migrated to death first.

Even skipping as many cutscenes as I was allowed the quests was awful. The only one I even remember was ghostbusting some autismo's manifested spergouts.
