Warframe

Got around to the Old Peace stuff, finally. Had to take a break from the game.

Uriel's parts are cooking, and I'm currently grinding for my first Tauron. I'm leaning towards making Zenurik my first one.

I still don't like all these proto-Frames they're adding. With the Hex, it was unique to them, so it was fine, but now it feels like they want to make every frame a character, which feels at odds with Warframes being faceless mass-murder machines. That and I can't stand hearing dumb quips while I'm slaughtering hordes of whatever I'm fighting. Maybe they should add a taunt button to aggro bad guys?

At least the Descendia's fun.
The weapons don't matter at all (aside from Vazarin's niche cheese potential); you're just using it to mod your Operator, so go with whichever school you use most - it won't really give you a reason to use Unairu or Vazarin (outside of permadeath missions) in general play, but provides an identical power spike to all of them.

Interview with Rebecca Ford lead to this great info nugget being dropped:
“I used to make my own Dragon Ball Z music videos […] I used to sit on my PC with Windows Movie Maker and make Linkin Park and Dragon Ball Z videos,” Ford says. “And my friends and I would share them […] it was like a social currency in my friend group.”
Edit: A hotfix dropped with a significant Voruna change.

Oh look, DE can buff frames without a complete rework/bandaid augment.

They don't violate lore until they do. Just look at Temple. Sure, the Helminth strain is a Ballas original but David Bowie is the human that it turns into the original frame. I wouldn't be surprised if, after all the lore spergs went crazy over pre-Alad V Valkyr and how little sense her prime makes, there's been an internal competition within DE to keep pushing the limit on how absurd a frame's origin story and prime variant can be without causing a full meltdown. They can and will justify whatever they damn please with Eternalism, good world building and storytelling be damned.

I meant protoframes in general. Bowie doesn't really violate the lore, its just really really really fucking stupid lore because ever since writers made eternalism a thing they stopped giving any fuck about any plotpoint that isn't "lmao time traveling multiverse lmao".

If we accept that then nothing can really violate lore, to be honest. Not that DE had a good track record in regards to lore from before the introduction of eternalism to begin with.

will it be enough to justify not slam maxxing? probably not. But its a good change, at least makes Ulfrun builds more viable.

The reason I hate eternalism is because its a free pass for the writers to stop giving a shit. Anything that relies on eternalism to function is inherently a plothole.

Protoframes entirely rely on the concept of eternalism, so there you have it.
I'm confused as to how protoframes rely on eternalism. You just take a helminth frame strain, infect a rando with it, and you got a protoframe.

They'll never make a protoframe that isn't a product of time travel, hence the connection to eternalism.

That's also how you get a regular frame, the difference is that those weren't made by literal Doctor Strange jumping all around time and space.

Protoframes are not inherently tied to time travel or the multiverse. Saying that the concept of protoframes break the lore because a time travel plotline has them is like saying that the very concept of weapons breaks the lore because they exist in 1999.

You're the one who called everything that relies on eternalism a plothole, not me. My original point was about Temple specifically. I don't think this argument is going anywhere, we can agree to disagree.

Wouldn't have guessed. Warframe devs used to be careful not to be too obvious with their inspirations, purposely avoiding being too blatant about it. That allowed it to create its own unique charm and feel. Now it's just whatever anime Rebecca happened to watch last week, repackaged. While I welcome all the QoL the game got under her, the game's vibe got completely warped ever since she took over - everything feels so fucking superficial and lame. IMO she's one of those people trying too hard to seem like a true and honest geek.

And that's when I completely stopped giving a shit about it. Used to be big lore nut, writing whole essays on my speculations. Needless to say, whatever headcanon I had is better than what we got.
Your logical interpretations and predictions mean jack shit when a writer can just do anything on a whim and pull space magic justification for it out of their ass like it's Limbo's hat. That makes it pointless and unfun.

Sure, but under her tenure, the game has made far greater story progression than before she took her role. Obviously, whether said progression is good or bad is up for debate, but at least shit is happening.

I don't think it has much to do with her specifically, rather than studio just generally fleshing out their workflow.
Worth noting that thanks to Steve becoming CEO of the studio, they don't waste time and resources doing publishing work for others. Their foray into publishing was nothing short of disaster. As a result, they're more focused on developing games instead.

I think people look fondly on warframe lore of the past specifically because it was glacially paced and vague as fuck so most of it was speculation. Other than the second dream it didn't have that many hits.

It was so vague that when the tutorial got revamped to make Vor a more personal opponent a fair few of us replayed just to see if they snuck any new lore tidbits in. We were pleasantly surprised when there were (mainly Vor's line about Tenno being "energy"). Now it feels like they don't want things to be mysterious and vague.

Riven fags. Whats the dispo gotta be for a weapon to justify me getting a riven for it. I got kuva to spend
