Was Batman Beyond good or is it nostalgia?

It was ok with occasional flirtations with greatness.
The concept was great, but I felt they never executed it to it's fullest.
I'll give them props for trying to give the show detail by having characters use invented slang and mannerisms alongside the industrial/dystopian atmosphere replacing the noir tones of the original, but they also fell back on the crutch of repeating themselves by giving Terry his own version of what Bruce had decades ago, down to having his own Oracle. I also never understood why they wanted to give him criminal girlfriends when he already had a steady girl. Terry never came off a poon-hound the way Bruce did, and I thought Terry was fine being the former Bully/Juvenile delinquent douchebag who's trying to atone for past mistakes.
They should've let him be his own man, instead of doing the same things Bruce did and adoping his same attitude towards things like working alone and burdening the city on his shoulders alone.
Which is why I hated the ending they gave it even more.

Has aged really well in a lot of ways. I think its future aesthetic helps it feel a little more timeless. It certainly came out in an era just after the DCAU was allowed to experiment with new directions but before Dini and company got too high on their own farts.

Return of the Joker has aged surprisingly badly though. Other than a few really good money scenes that movie is a sloppy, tedious mess both structure and plot wise.

The Joker was a lousy villain for Terry to fight since he had no beef with him like Bruce did.
They handled that part pretty well actually. Its the poorly paced earlier parts of the movie that I have a problem with, the last 20 minutes or so is pretty solid.

I loved the artstyle a lot and theme was killer, but it did feel like a repeat in some aspects with hitting the same notes of some characters from the original.

Spellbinder felt vaguely like a revamp of Riddler in some ways but was different enough. Curare reminded me a lot of Ras and Talia for some reason.
