An option to watch a thread but instead of being updated on every single post just get updated everytime it gets a new highlight.

Well yeah but then how will I know someone has posted in the thread?set your notifications to not show every post then just use the highlight button? It's how I manage at least.
Yeah, update me everytime one of those happens. Will be more useful than updating on every post.Highlights are dynamic, they can change as new posts and reacts come in.
Check the thread when you log in? I keep those notifs off because the threads I watch are going to have new posts. Might be a problem on some slow or dead threads but overall it works for me.Well yeah but then how will I know someone has posted in the thread?
I mean I can see the appeal because if I don't check threads for a week or more, I'll just skim the highlights.I think I actually like this idea. It’s a waste of time scrolling through handfuls of new posts that are either off-topic or shit that’s been said ad infinitum. It would be pretty cool to only be alerted to check in on a thread when something of value is said/happens.
At that point what's the difference between checking manually vs watching?Check the thread when you log in?

Fair point. For me if I don't watch something I'll forget about it and never check on it unless I see it in New.At that point what's the difference between checking manually vs watching?
