They'll just force you to use insecure TLS for connections out of china. There's a legitmate use for mTLS, and the China Internet Safety Administration (Think NIST but with the power to license websites) isn't that retarded.
I never heard of anyone using mtls for VPN or proxy, why not use wireguard over port 53?

It even bypasses hotspot captive pages for free internet.

The firewall uses detects, mirrors (and decodes) and monitors with DPI (among others) wireguard connections in China or across provincial (state) lines. They will ratelimit you (usually ~1mb/sec or less) or straight up block you if when you start searching stuff undesirable (like porn, muh politics, muh worst china, etc) or whenever they tighten security. You can't legally use a VPN without the root CISA cert installed.

DPI did not block mTLS unless it's to a blacklisted site, or you connect too long through the TLS or a standard port. So if you kept swapping to non-standard TLS ports it was okay.

Anyone have a verdict on the new version of floorp?
I tested 12.1.0 found a bunch of Floorp settings were bugged. Apparently they've been patched as of 12.1.2.

I'm not a fan of the Floorp startpage since it lacks any customisation that the pre-release preview implied. Custom startpages are still the definitive winners.

The bottom bar's been removed and I don't know if it's possible to re-add it. No big deal. I never used it much.

The side panels can be detached to become contained mini windows which can be freely resized without altering the width of the main browser window. One major downside to this mode is if you click the main window it'll close the floating side panel. Still can't get the url of a navigated sidepanel when you open it as a browser tab. (e.g. opening a dictionary word)

Sidebar options are still restriced to webpages, select defaults and extension, although, I couldn't get uBlock to work as a side panel. I'd have liked to have the uBlock dashboard and custom filters there as they're normally floating windows :/
Got to play around with this feature more tbh

It looks like Floorps got a bunch more Firefox features. There's a greater selection of translation options now. Floorp's adopted the dropdown selection of search engines like Firefox has, and mobile browsers use. There's a way to revert it back through about : config.

There's a single click option to generate a QR code of a webpage. (not something I use so I didn't try it out).

This has been fixed in 12.1.3

is it just me or has brave gotten to be massively resource consuming as of late? it used to run better than chrome or firefox and not really use much now all of a sudden its just as bad as if you had multiple browsers running at the same time

I use it as a secondary browser, but if I use it with the laptop running on battery, it lags like a motherfucker.

Brave browser passes 100m monthly active users (Archive)

Still don't ever use this browser but this is not extremely surprising. Been noticing a lot more lately that even normies are more aware of brave, its looking like its going to replace firefox's niche in being the go-to for entry level "de-googled" privacy that gets shilled to average joes on social media as mozilla continues to blow their foot off with a shotgun.

What homepage do you all use for your web browser? I dislike the default one on Firefox and am looking to change it.

I distinctively remember the internet and web browsers turning to shit in mid-2010. Browsing the internet has never been the same ever since. All I want is a browser that feels light and nifty, instead of a hefty fat unsure paranoid turd. Load up too many tabs and the browser has a mini-stroke. Load any webpage and elements load up in a jutter. JavaScript reliant crap on every page. I also dislike the boring Mac-like aesthetic browsers are shipped with for the past 15 years. There's no personality to the design anymore, and it's gay.

Currently using Floorp with Ungoogled Chromium as backup. Via browser on Android. Used Waterfox for a few years, it's good, but the update process is a minor pain. Want to try Pale Moon but it wouldn't compile properly.
