My top five episodes in no particular order would be

Jeff the Killer
the grab bags
The Thing in the Basement is Getting Better at Mimicking People
And then Tales from the Gas Station for one that's intentionally funny

The first four I just laugh hysterically the entire time I'm listening to them so maybe not the best thing to listen to in public. I almost fell off a roof from laughing too hard once The Thing in the Basement makes its turn from solid to lmao

For a few extra actually good ones

Penpal

And I almost love it but I find The Showers just lacks... Something that I can't put my finger on. It's a super cozy story that I wish was a little bit better, it might do it for you though.

Horrible banter aside, I enjoyed the “twist” in this story. It even directly subverted Wendigoon’s prediction

”Immolation” being a self-fulfilling prophecy where the main character dooms himself was a good enough theory, I think that was actually intentional from the author. When you realize it was actually Ben’s fate and not the protagonist, there’s this moment where you almost have a sigh of relief, before it dawns on you: holy shit, what’s going to happen if this thing enters earth? It’s a special kind of dread you don’t see very often in horror anymore, and a fantastic way to end on a high note.

Any recommendations to good episodes of Creepcast? Going on a long flight soon
I really like the left right game despite the MC being a mary sue and the ending being mid. I think its their longest story, too. Something about the world the author crafted is oddly cozy. I'd play the left right game if I had a band of armed to the teeth truck drivers with me. It's like camping but the forest wants to kill you.

Also am I autistic for thinking the stupid banter in every episode is funny? :(

The setting definitely carries it hard. My main complaint is that they just spend way too much time in the corn. I wish there'd been one or two more environments during that section, if the author had come up with one more great location or two more good ones I think that would have been enough to cover up my reservations with Alice and the ending. I will say, while the ending is my least favorite kind of ending, it is the best version of that particular ending I've come across since it's adequately foreshadowed and the entity doesn't just flat out refuse to answer questions because a mortal mind wouldn't understand. It does its best to lower itself to a mortal level and "I remember" was a pretty solid reveal of what the entity was, so for that kind of story beat it gets an A+ from me. It wasn't just "I don't know how to end this so I'll just throw out something unexplainable/incomprehensible" like it is 99% of the time

I thought it was extremely funny as well but my friendgroup has a Wendigoon that we sexually* harass from time to time just because his reactions are very amusing so the humor was very relatable to me

*By sexually I just mean we go way too hard on complimenting him/implying interest in him and he is very obviously against the gay despite him saying he doesn't care. I don't think we'd ever go to the level Meat does here unprompted but we've definitely said worse (and directed it at him) playing adult board games (like cards against humanity etc)

All Isiah would need to do is ask "why are you gay?"

Stop being a faggot to your friend.

The bantz was great this episode. Mr Floppy is gonna live rent free in my head for a while, and the kitty cat bit sounds exactly like the kinda retard shit my buddies and I do. Wendigoon genuinely has no idea how to riff off that kinda shit and it's funny to me.

Story was neat. I got massive Interstellar vibes from it like Goon did. Probably would have worked better as a comic or could be made into a pretty cool short animation.

For me my favourite episode is "My Job is Watching a Woman Trapped in a Room". Hunter's belly laugh at the narrator's sadness concerning the fake Rachel gets me every time. Deepwoods is a close second because the boys' dismay as it unravels completely is also hilarious. The Creeptv episode on Urbanspook is also great and it's the only CreepTv episode that's worth watching I think.

In terms of the stories nothing has beaten LRG for me so far, even though they've covered quite a few good ones. It has the perfect length with some compelling characters and set pieces, and the ending has actually grown on me in subsequent rewatches. My all time favourite used to be Penpal, but upon my second and third rewatches the tension and mystery (which I think the horror relied on extensively) was gone somewhat. My first watch however filled me with genuine horror that no other Internet creepypasta has ever rivalled, and I bought the physical copy to support the writer.

Psychosis is also fantastic, though I don't see many discuss it. It's one of the few stories that I went out of my way to genuinely read and listen to audio narrations of. Alien invasion horror is not nearly utilised effectively as a setting in Internet horror, which is odd given how obsessed creepypasta authors are with the doppelganger concept. The protagonist's psychosis was really well done, and the thought that the events of Psychosis could potentially come to life gave me pause. I think the fact that Psychosis was written outside of nosleep worked to its benefit, as the writing rules for that subreddit are legit retarded and stifle author creativity.

These two are good for some unintentionally funny writing as well. The protagonist of Watching a Woman starting off as what seems like a normal guy only to gradually reveal that he's legitimately an exceptional individual is really special, if it was shorter or peaked higher it would definitely be a favorite

Deepwoods part one I really liked, and Meat's ACDC covers carried the rest

Urbanspook episode is definitely peak but I think I've enjoyed every episode so far, especially Marble Hornets, I'm hoping we get part 3 of that this week but it seemed like Wendi was super busy and in a hurry on the last episode, probably trying to get moved and stuff, so he might not have six-eight hours to sit down and do the first half of S3 right now

I enjoyed that one well enough my first few listens but listening through the entire series again at work it definitely stood out this time around, I started it last night and finished this morning, I think something about the break really added to it (and I'm completely alone at work right now which probably added a bit more)

@TheOtherSideofMakeBelieve

Admittedly I haven't watched either of the Marble Hornets episodes as I didn't enjoy their coverage on Greylock (was redundant as I had already seen Goon's video on it) or that weird Japanese thing they covered, and I couldn't even finish Midwest Angelica. If you think the Marble Hornets videos are worth watching and I'l give it a go though.

@The Crescent King Admittedly I'm already a big Marble Hornets fan and neither of them were particularly familiar with it so it gave me the same feels as showing it to someone for the first time which I've done a few times

Channel 666 (the weird japanese thing) is probably the weakest episode in my opinion but I don't mind it. If I was going to skip an episode on a rewatch that would be the one

Psychosis is also fantastic
I fucking love Psychosis, which is why I’m still so mad they butchered the episode about it.
And since LRG is brought up, once again I highly recommend listening to the audio reading of it, but as a supplemental and not a replacement. There’s too many moments where the medium of text delivers the scene way better than audio can. The only reason I really recommend it to begin with is the added side plot with the narrator. IIRC in the nosleep version his role is simply being the guy through which we get Alice’s logs, but in the audio he’s an actual character.
The premise is the same, he was friends with Alice and suddenly received these recordings from her, and in the end he flies to Phoenix and it’s implied he sees Rob. However, in the audio, he actively investigates Alice’s disappearance and the deeper he gets into it the weirder it becomes. Eventually, it seems as if Alice’s existence was entirely wiped from reality. No one knows who he’s talking about, not even her parents. Articles she wrote, pictures she was in, etc, all vanish. The narrator even plays one of Alice’s recordings to his mom and a doctor, and neither of them hear anything. For whatever reason, he’s the last person on earth who remembers she existed. It adds another layer of existential dread to a story that already has fantastic liminal and helpless horror. It’s also a nice explanation as to how come no one seems to notice or care about all these missing people.

New Creepcast: The Only Other Astronaut on This Mission Died Six Weeks Ago

Shorter one this week.
Hot take, I liked the cat/Mr. Floppy bit alongside Wendi’s reactokn to it - pulling out the “If I do it I’m killing you first” as the immediate response was gold. Additionally, I liked the story. Inasmuch as the boys desire shorter stories like these to be elongated the track record has been that it often ends in disaster so I think it’s for the best that the authors err on the side of brevity.

My vote for best 5 stories covered on the pod are:
Ted the Caver
The Showers
Penpal
My Dead Girlfriend Keeps Messaging me on Facebook
Left Right Game
Honorable mention: Feed the Pig (one of the few stories that would have benefited from being protracted).

In regards to best episodes I tend to find the shittier stories make for better podcast content (or at least more humorous):
Creepy Grab Bag #1
The Dionaea House
The Thing in the Basement is Getting Better at Mimicking People
My Dog was Missing for Three days *
Stolen Tongues *
*weren’t actually shit, but good episodes nonetheless

My Dog was Missing for Three days
This story was fine but forgettable but the episode is definitely legendary for Meat's story about his grandpa
Ted the Caver
This one is definitely solid. I might actually like the proto-creepcast episode on Meat's channel better but either way is enjoyable

I think that there was a mix up somewhere. I'm still going to get my stuff and I know my coat, bag and plush are coming so I just need to get this guy where he's going.
