Definitely the best of the big 3 Slenderman ARGs. Everymanhybrid-I liked the end but it was really slow, Tribe Twelve- Slow but understandable due to the great special effects and Adam Rosner being in Uni at the time, until he got exposed as a rapist, pedo and zoophile and now it will never be finished. At least someone close to him leaked the rest of the story.

Haven't watched this video yet or looked much into the movie, just saw a trailer for it before seeing The Whale last week.

Seemed interesting I guess in a creepy and artsy way, though I find it hard to believe it will be anything of narrative substance from what was shown.

He had something really neat going with the varied media piecing puzzles together. The live-action segments are a little too on-the-nose and aren't good enough alone to warrant their existence in stead of the media-heavy approach Alex is very good at.

Just not as spooky IMO, but the story is moving along well, at least.

To be fair I don't think the story has totally lost it's spook factor just due to the concept being good.

Whenever horror strays into the supernatural I become slightly less invested because the supernatural existing generally implies that the afterlife also exists. So unless outright stated by the source material, the worst thing that can happen by getting got by a spooky specter is your meeting with divine judgement is sped along.
The idea of demons coopting religion thousands of years ago really removes any sense of security you could have in that setting and for me the kind of shit presentation of some stuff hasn't lessened that for me too much as of yet.

Will agree it's worse just hasn't negatively impacted the fear uneasiness for me.

To quote Wendi quoting the director, there is a fully-fledged story that is not revealed because the focus is more on unnerving the viewer than telling a story in a typical narrative structure.

Sounds very artsy.

I guess because of the arthouse label, I was hoping that Wendi would treat the movie a little more allegorically instead of literally and point at "da demons" as the culprit but I don't expect him to be a professional film analyst and it's not like his interpretation is wrong either.

I need to post more here. I keep forgetting this thread exists.

I think for a lot of people, wendigoon (and myself) included, more abstract or symbolic interpretations of a piece of media are more engaging when you've established what the story is meant to be in very literal terms.
It's fine to go all in on artsy symbolism but for my money it helps to build that stuff off of the solid base of a literal plot.

It pretty much sounded like a basic story about the horrors of divorce as seen through a kids eyes. That;s probably too "easy' an analysis for him though and he loves his demons.

I generally believe that well made art can have multiple interpretations, and that various ones could be correct in one sense or another.
Examples are films like Possum, The Babadook, Goodnight Mommy, etc. I'm a film nerd, so if one interests me I tend to read about it and for many films I really liked people will have really well formed opinions on what "it means". Now with horror, this is the name of the game so those debates are very prevalent around horror films. My view is that the best monsters represent multiple things in the story, as a good monster isn't just a scary creature it is a representation of humanity's fears and internal conflicts made flesh.
The video on Skinamarink was alright, I'll probably get to watching the film later as it looks like the type of artsy horror I like, but I prefer the movie and ARG videos where we delve into the historical context (All Quiet On The Western Front), hidden stories (most ARGs, I really liked the Hypnogogic Archive ones), or just shit you never knew about (the disturbing movie iceberg had a lot of history about mondo films and the like).

I agree, but I do appreciate his research, especially in relation to the Bible in explaining background details and translation. Isaiah I'm sure also does his research, but I don't believe it's to the same measures as Aiden. So I can tolerate his personality as long as I get to learn something new (and it can be verified).
