Wendigoon Thread

Does Wendi unironically believe this bullshit about the testers refusing to play the level or not firing a shot regarding No Russian?

Call me cynical but that sounds fake and gay. You've played hundreds of hours of war games. You've blown limbs off. You've knifed fuckers in the throat. You listened to enemies scream in pain and call out for mommy. But killing some civies in an airport was the come to Jesus moment for half the testers? Fuck off.
I believe the Mortal Kombat devs more when they said they got PTSD from having to look at a bunch of gore to make the fatalities.

Video is interesting, however, and it's giving me some wicked nostalgia even though I was never a CoD kid.
I 100% believe in that as a product of "normie sadism" (really, a commonality amongst all people—normalfags are just most retiscent to admit it and are often more sadistic when allowed to do so than even the edgiest societal malcontent). Soldiers dying is just war, but civilians? How horrifying! (unless you told them the civvies were a part of X socially approved groups to hate). To be clear, I don't think this is inherently a bad thing, just an observation.

I knew at least 5 people personally who it absolutely worked on. Not saying shit like CoD was the sole reason they enlisted, but it was definitely a huge push. Worked better than those "army strong/the few, the proud" commercials did, that's for sure.
Same. Now the military is so gay you can't even call your enemies the nigger/faggot word. I was lied to by those halcyon COD lobbies!

If that was the case, they would have cut the level all together.

I'll also add that you had plenty of games beforehand that allowed the player to kill civilians, including children, and 100% testers were required to see the results of those actions. Games like Deus Ex for example.
Really, you go for Deus Ex as your example? We have GTA and Postal being the poster children for objectionable normalized violence against the public which had way more backlash than No Russian. But I will admit No Russian hits harder because they just drop it on you unexpectedly, meanwhile you buy GTA and Potal explicitly to kill random people.

Yeah but GTA and Postal you play as a bad guy, so it's not that much of a tonal dissonance for the tester.

It's back.
Shoutout to the devs for forgetting that the Earth is not flat and having Russia attack the East coast, for some reason. I like the implication that the rest of Europe saw this massive Russian air movement flying over them and decided not to tell us because fuck yanks or something.

I wonder if Wendigoon ever got into Halo, given it's reportedly full of Christian symbolism and allegory due to the original developers being a bunch of pastors' kids. I'm not Christian so I'm not the most knowledgeable on the allusions present, but it seems like the sort of thing he might get something out of.

He did a video with someone on it a while back. I haven't watched it but I heard he's not the most knowledgeable on it

Considering bleaching my eyes with radiation after seeing that CreepCast thumbnail. New main channel vid.
Continuing on with the tradition of criticizing the weekly episodes. It sounds like the classic case of Native Americans ignoring their own fault for things and blaming it all on the White man, especially with the start of using the phrase of (paraphrasing) "Native American miners weren't properly explained the severity of the danger" which is code word for "Native Americans were given equipment and explanation and didn't follow with it due to stupidity and negligence". Ditto the Navajo Nation flipflops between being responsible for itself and wanting the USA to deal with its issues, no fucking way they didn't get the warning and just took the bribe money because it was not their problem.

I don't like corporations any more than the government, but you're right, people are forgetting that "the Navajo Nation" is also a government. No matter the skin color, a corporation holds out cash and a politician takes it. If you anonymized this it's the same as any other corporation-caused slow burn environmental disaster, same stalling and denials as, say, Love Canal, just bigger and not-white.

The uranium mine owners were probably as happy about the Navajo-US jurisdictional complications as is a serial killer with a thirst for native women. If the people overseeing you are confused and infighting, that's so much time you're free to do whatever you want. Probably not any smoking gun memos from the 1950s that explicitly say this, though.

Language barrier could be a fair point, though. Could be there were safety orientations given to English-speaking foremen to relay--not defending the company, again, just something they could set up to blame later. And the company execs can say they weren't at the mine; oh dear, weren't they following the safety plan we set up?

Mostly enjoyed those stories. I didn't like the non-endings but I'll take a non-ending over a bad ending that ruins the rest of the story. The clown story was probably the best and it was the only one with a satisfactory conclusion imo

They have him listed in the description but no link to his channel, but I found the guy who makes the animated backgrounds and the opening cinematic while looking for the song that plays during the opening, he made that too

First story needed more in its climax. I got the sense all the favors were a kind of test for the big stay-over-at-the-house but then all we get is her doing her nightly routine and going to bed. It needed to be more hectic, basically.

Second story was very fun. It's quick but it still reveals enough to give you a decent sense of what the parade really is while still making you want to know more.

Third story works better as a movie imo. Starting out I thought it was gonna be like that one Family Guy cutaway in prose form but instead all we get is some guy occasionally making snarky comments toward our protagonist before the world ends.

Fourth story was a lot of fun. It handles the long-term generational curse well. I doubt even the parents knew what would have happened, they just repeated the tradition their own parents taught them. The main character broke the tradition, and learns the hard way why it existed in the first place.

You know, I wouldn't mind another look at Tommy Taffy, if only to see them crash out. I do hope they cover his other stories as well. There's still potential in a lot of those.

Wait, the Nuclear Indians was a main channel thing. New weekly episode is about the Sodder children that was already done to death. I'll just take what I said about it in the Nexpo thread:
Tl;dw: A normal housefire happened with 5 children dead. Parents spend the next decade blaming everyone but themselves in it. Creating a non sensical conspiracy theory involving their entire community and Benito Mussolini that involves using a military grade incendiary grenade for a housefire, kidnapping the kids while the house is on fire without anyone noticing/hearing, and the fire department, sheriff and mortuary office all being in on it. With the only reason being that the father badmouthed Mussolini.

The main victims are the children remaining alive that had to spend years with their parents insanity.

I'm a little late to the party, but this thumbnail is genuinely embarrassing. A grown, married, Christian man should have some restraint and say to himself "maybe depicting myself half naked while an old pervert holds me by a leash isn't the greatest idea." Idk, maybe I'm just being a Scandinavian Kiwi prude about it :really:

Hunter did a bad thing a while back and Wendi had to pay the price.

Buddy what is with this guy changing his thumbnails and titles after something launches? First ooo super bad us nuclear disaster. To now: Named placed thing incident picture of a field. This nigga grifting hard
It's a youtube feature, you can select multiple thumbnails, I think up to three. Youtube throws them out randomly before settling on whichever one gets the most clicks
