Finally remembered to finish The DeLaurier invitation. Nice writing as always by this author but it was a bit dull to start, not bad but not super interesting, seemed like it was just going to be a ghost story. Really, really picked up towards the end with all the demonic sigils and stuff. I left off at exactly where it got interesting, so going from the laughable, hamfisted satanic imagery in Necrosleep straight into Travis Weaver waxing poetic about how the difference between faith and voltage are closer than most would like to see as the protagonist catches a glimpse into Hell was almost a shock to the system
 
Wendi did a guest voice for The Death Spiral of Tony Tiger by Frankie Fey (previously Skumbagovich).

All he did was the intro, but the video is entertaining. Frankie Fey : DeviantArt :: Strange Aeons : Tumblr. She's done some objectively good scholarship, as well as some potboilers about Internet art memes for normies. This video is more of the latter.

Legitimately unwatchable with the amount of AI chimping. Not only those analog horror stories are the most derivative shit imaginable as it is that freely ripoff other stories, they also never as deep as goon makes them to be, so him saying that "maybe that creepy face is just the AI making things up to be scary" is just as applicable to almost every creepypasta that just spam spooky things.

It's also seemingly purposely reductive. As if the creator didn't try multiple prompts until he got what he wanted, but used the first thing that came up with minimal description.

It's just retarded and the pressure worked and some tranny will get money for shittier art.

I kinda chuckled when he implied that the AI prompt was actually some kind of deep commentary on the collective gluttony of fallible, worthless humans taking everything for granted in the pursuit of CONSUMERISM because we can no longer appreciate the small things.

He then backpedaled on that and said it can't be because it's made with AI.
 
Ill be the dissenting opinion on AI slop because it kinda is. i get his autism because its a good enough idea that has stilted art as a result of the AI (seriously, just look at the news bits where it just randomly has "old school" anime arstyles), and the actual designs were actually pretty inspired, the guy is a good enough idea guy that he lead the artist to his vision pretty well or he lucked with the artist. I think i agree with Wendi because the AI does ruin any sort of meaning because of said inconsistency. He is also an autist that gets emotional when talking about the bible, so a series that presents a modicum of talent that then squanders it a tiny bit because of time, is kinda understandble why it triggered his autism
Is it autistic from him and he is seething pretty hard? Yeah. But his passion and bible tism is the thing guiding that seethe more than any smuggery towards AI niggery that the average twitterfag gets on, so i cant help but give him a pass, even if i understand why people think its cringe and very similar to how how anti-ai autists go ballistic over any slight mention of it. I do agree that bitching about le envorimental impact is sometimes empty faggotry when there are countless other impacts that get a pass (cough, India, cough)

I used to be that guy(from a further right perspective mind you) I don't hate AI now, but I can't take it seriously, the Only Ai I've seen that "works" is obvious jokes, so in my mind it's only good for shit posting.

Art is a sacred expression, that's why when it fails it can be so hilarious(remember the monkey christ) the problem with Ai Art is that it's pure product and Progressive(not strictly left wing mind you) assumptions, it doesn't recognize art but only product. Yes a lot of the people's "art" is slop that's crap. But Ai stuff is at best generic, it's not expressing Ideas in a more powerful way.
You don't watch a David Lynch or even more dumbed down stuff like Michael Bay because they're movies, you watch them because these are the movies only they would make specifically.

Dude liked Happy Meat Farms when he watched that on a live stream a few years ago even though it heavily uses AI images for the mutated animals, but now that AI art is in the mainstream discussion, his circle of online "friends" hate it, so he hates it. I guarantee you, if he didn't know it was AI he would like it.

I think you can say that about a lot of other people. Everyone else in their circles are so vocally adamant against it that they in turn internalize that hate to fit in. I've no real proof of it, however.

Anyway, it's rich there's this much sperging about AI in respect to analog horror when the entire medium is at its core about trying to do and show as much as possible with the least amount of effort and resources available. I mean Local58 was literally Kris Straub using cheap stock footage and filming his screen with his phone and look at what he was able to do with it. It's only a matter of time until some dedicated autist manages to create something truly transformative to rock the principles of all these "naysayers".

The main issue is that the current landscape heavily derides people using it, so no one wants to risk his name on it. So the only AI content is shitposts and low effort posts.

Even in this series, having the artist do the normal world content while the angel content stays AI would have worked really well since the issues of AI are justifiable when portraying an out of world beings. It definitely leans more into the "biblically accurate angel" than spamming eyeballs over it.

No sorry, there are real problems with how Ai creates things. I know everyone hates that wendi was spurging in the video but his point about intentionality is correct, when an artist has directe control the work is better and can be constructed more meaningfully.
I know that YouTube channels like Neralvis and Dr.foxonic use AI to great effect and clearly understand it better than most but it's still something they suggest rather than something they fully control.
People like AI art because of the novelty of it and because it's so easy. But if we take it seriously as a tool for all major aspects of art then it falls apart very quickly. I don't mind it if, for example you use AI to program a lighting system for your 3d animated film, or in the case of late night with the devil as a small background element, but to say that real powerful works of art can be made with so little human involvement is crazy to me.

This is just plainly incorrect in regards to art. The most straightforward example is in the case of a group work. What is the difference between the work of a commissioned artist and an AI when they work off the same prompt? The person commissioning can't tell the artist every single aspect he expects, so the artist/AI will always make stuff up, and those things might not have any meaning. There's a reason the phrase "sometimes a cigar is just a cigar" exists.

Even when the artist is the writer it's not so cut and dry, sometimes they make a mistake and decide to use it, sometimes they plainly forget shit. To quote an old legend:

And like with Bob Ross, artists are pissed that their whole grift is open to the average normies. So they argue about shit like "Soul" while doing furry scat porn commissions on the side.

One of the most memorable moments in Fantasy film history, completely unintentional. Does that make this moment meaningless and bad?

It's all a direct result of shit like tvtropes and its autists creating the idea that every single aspect of media is intentional, meaningful for the plot and needs to be categorized into neat little boxes.

When you commotion an artist to make you something you recognize that THEY are the ones who made it, you can't claim to be the one who made it, you told someone what you wanted and they used their style to create it. You did nothing. Ai "artists" claim they made the thing that the programs did all the time because they typed in the prompts, but they didn't. They told a program what they wanted and it gave them an image/video based on that. No technique no learning or development of skills. No learning to Prompt better is hardly a skill.
