Wendigoon Thread

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.

I enjoy mulit-hour videos about random bullshit.

The art style is nice, but no game back in the day would rely on voice synth so much, at the stage when it sucked this badly.

Wendigoon is just easily frightened/mindblown, I think. I would like him to expleen one single episode of the original Twilight Zone, just so we can get a baseline.

I think he's one of those guys who can easily get super immersed in media, that's the only real explanation I can think of.

He has some videos up where he watches "horror" compilations with some other guy and they're all lame as hell but he acts like they're the most terrifying things he's ever seen

All you need to do is have some christian themes to your horror and Wendi elevates it higher than most people would.
Wendigoon is a good old boy who played little league baseball, teaches Sunday school and is high school sweethearts with his fiance/wife. He comes off as fairly sheltered despite all the things he covers. Everyone wants a "normal" internet personality until they have normie tastes.

I've got no problem with him finding stuff spooky that doesn't really bother me and I find tame, I'm sure theres stuff I find spooky that wouldnt bother him.

I have never played Faith. I have never seen gameplay, I have never seen the memes. I really some of the primal fears, I love the concepts and background of faith.

What I especially love is the rotoscoping and cutscenes. The art and music are so good. That is where I was hooked. Then there was some of the base footage used to rotoscope.

I just want to understand if he's easily scared by fiction or if I'm jaded, because I assure you I am also a huge coward but mostly for things like ladders and angry alcoholics.

When you go to the haunted house that the high school puts on, you definitely want to bring your friend who jumpscares easily; that's just good strategy.

One of my favorite normie YouTubers is Steve Wallis, a middle-aged painfully Canadian man who illegally camps while being absolutely terrified of park rangers and, as an afterthought, bears. He's not playing it up for the subscribers, just progressively freaking himself out and saying "aw jeez I'm gonna get arrested" every time a twig snaps.

That guy is objectively fucking great. Just camping, doing his shit, I love him.

I think he really likes horror. Has talked about the horror he likes. The things he is afraid of. He has a video about childhood fears he had.

I think one thing besides the devil stuff he is afraid of, and it is a theme, is the human condition. You can tell when he hams it up, but there are videos where he talks about people and looks bothered by the material.

Faith is at least kinda creepy at least, and has some legit fucked up moments, especially on the first playthrough where you don't know what's coming. It reminds me that I noticed on tvtropes that just about anything uncomfortable today is put into nightmare fuel, zoomers today have no stomach for anything slightly disturbing as long as its connected to the real world social issues (while body horror and nihilism are A-okay).

Anyways, the video is pretty nice since I didn't give that much thought for the memos back then because I missed context, and I skipped finding them again while replaying.

As mentioned before, he's also one of those lads deeply immersed in media. He had a strong emotional reaction to No longer Human for example, which I can understand on a philosophical level even if the cynic in me will tell you that it's misery porn with a mentally detached, socially maladjusted, pessimistic autist as its protagonist - mirroring the author's own mental health issues.

Not to mention, he worked through the apparent FNAF timeline and was interested in it.

But at the same time, I think that's what makes him such a joy to watch. And it makes his long videos enjoyable too.

Shit, it's thanks to him that I read Blood Meridian and more of McCarthy's work beyond No Country For Old Men.

Hell, I even watched The Counselor because he wrote it.

More on FAITH - a 4.5 hour vid just dropped.

These note reading as pretty cringe, nothing better than listening to the hammering of a typewriter for the first 5 seconds of each note and, I like Internet Historian, but the guy can't even turn off his goofy mode while reading about satanic sacrifices and shit.

Historian's performance was the inverse of Wendigoon's in his "Main in a Cave" video, where Wendigoon delivered his lines like he just injected tranq.
