Wendigoon Thread

I got weary when he joined the urbanSPOOK dogpile, but this video cemented full-on sell-out status.
I've unsubbed and only thing I've been tuning into is creepcast when there's nothing else to watch and that's mainly because Hunter carries it for me, even if his sperging can throw the pacing of the video off sometimes.
Red thread is boring and uninspired, having watched the first few episodes at the time as well as Wendigoon's podcast appearance it just felt like they only had him there because he's a hot commodity. Especially during the podcast it felt like the hosts were acting in a very passive-aggressive & demeaning way to the shit the dude believes in.
Considering how much Wendigoon fawned over Borrasca, even though it's twist ending amounted to being a human trafficking incest rapefest, and how much he praised Blood Meridian, despite the MANY fucked up scenarios that occur throughout the book (it is a good book btw), and yet he still has the gall to say that urbanSPOOK is a step too far.

Nigger, just have some consistency, say it's shit and move on. Stop trying to kiss ass to your pet tranny Alex Kister, by moral grandstanding over nothing. Fame and popularity really are some of the worst things you can subject on a person's ego, it completely fucking rots any semblance of principles and ethics they originally had.

To make a comparison, his argument is like a food reviewer saying "you can present me goyslop, but only if it is made so it looks like an actual well made dish". No matter how much you invest time in it, slop will remain slop, and that's okay, just don't behave as if having a nice packaging makes it anything more.

Oh, we can argue semantics forever, but that'll do nothing against the evolution of language and shifting public perception.
But apparently, as you've shown, the best thing to do is to do nothing and watch as the term ARG gets subverted by talentless hacks. It's not language evolution, it's language degradation, or a violent revolution. That term always had a very specific term since the very beginning, and what's happening to it right now is a lot like how the troon crowd redefined English language in the span of a few years to further their agenda. It's not natural, by being apathetic to it you're part of the problem, fuck you.

If you're not completely brain rotten by constantly scrolling TikTok/Shorts that can only be satisfied by an endless stream of skibidi toilet pop pop stimming bullshit, look at true ARG's. A few examples: Halo 2's I Love Bees ARG, Nine Inch Nails' Year Zero ARG, Valve's Meet the Pyro and Mann vs Machine ARG.

Hell, you want a modern example that's also Internet horror related because everything I mentioned is "old", therefore "bad"? Anomidae's Interloper ARG, it's fresh and still ongoing. They are vastly superior to Internet horror series because the creator lays out a puzzle that the viewers have to solve, it's engaging, it's creative, and it creates a better connection between the viewer and the artist.

@Puff is 100% right. ARG is participatory, it's an unique, one-of-a-kind art form that those YouTube videos and Reddit stories aren't. Unless you don't engage your audience in some kind of puzzle hunt, it's not an ARG and you should never use that label for your garbage. Wendigoon is a gigantic faggot for continuing this to happen, and so are you.

No, I guess you're right. Guess I was a massive fucking retard for trying to revitalize an outdated term from a bygone internet era, not realizing just how autistic faggots are over their precious internet horror and easter egg hunts so convoluted no normal man would ever care about unless guided by the hand by other autistic retards. Genuinely my bad. I'll try to say no more on the matter.

First step is admitting it. Niggers like you are why terms like Alternate Reality Game have completely lost their meaning over the years thanks to everyone and their grandmother using it as a catch-all. Is No Through Road an ARG? Is Fake Documentary "Q"? The answer is no, because there's no participation beyond clicking a video and watching.

So far just looks like he's just summarizing the entire comic beat-by-beat and sucking off Junji Ito every chance he can, but the greenscreen is nice at least.

Edit: yeah it wasn't too bad. Not like Wendigoon didn't get popular from pretty much point-by-point summarizing some random piece of media or historical event and occasionally making jokes about it. Manga seems fairly simplistic anyway -- oh look a bunch of weird shit is happening in this town and it's all got something to do with spirals, and then revealing in the end that all of it was just the machinations of some higher being who just wanted attention, which I thought was pretty cool and scary.

That's really all. At least it wasn't another cryptid iceberg this time around.

Wendigoon has uploaded a new video on Uzumaki. I will hold any remarks until I finish the video.

As Godchu put it, it is mostly summarizing the manga. For a runtime of almost 2 and half hours, I'd expect more out of him. At least the sponsor and shill sections are short.

You were never getting around characters suddenly seeming cartoonishly evil. It's the worst part of Penpal too and it all has to do with the format of this story. This type of story just can't function that way. When the horror of a story functions on your MC simply not being aware of it everything going on a sort of pseudo mystery, it's always going to seem cartoonishly evil and full of stupid plot holes when the writer has to reveal the truth at the end. You need to do a lot of planning and caretaking to prevent this. You're just not going to get that level of writing from a creepypasta. If you read enough books and creepypastas, you notice the better stories either A. Don't reveal their entire hand, like in "My Father Finally Told Me What Happened That Day", B. Do a double twist reveal like "1999", or C. Don't answer any questions at all, like in "Book of Sands" and just leave it up to the reader to put shit together on their own.

In some regard that's why I like the shorter pastas a bit better, because the author wraps them up before they get too nutty or up their own ass with trying to world build like they're Tolkien.

well thats the livestream link so

Pretty solid stream, Isaiah got fairly emotional at some points, but the death and resurrection are very hard hitting so I'd never fault anyone for shedding tears. I think for me Christ saying "It is finished" is the hardest hitting emotionally. Everything from Adam and Eve in the garden to Christ's final breath, all the horrible disgusting things man had done. In that moment it's all forgiven, and man is handed a way to redemption even though we didn't deserve it all given what we had just done to the savior.

Even his solo new videos just feel so damn soulless. Like he's just going through the motions. Dude should have just stuck with his own stuff. Kept doing the Weird Bible show on the side. Not getting fucked up with Charlie, Meat, Turkey Tom, Muta and the other tards of Youtube. It has demonstrably messed with his content. Still like him and I want him to do well. I just think he's developing that same sort of stank these streamers get after the sponsorships and clout come in.
For a minute I thought you were going to whine about his sponsorships being two minutes too long in an hour long video or selling too many hats, which would indeed be quite gay.

I've also noticed that whenever these Youtubers get together they start diluting each other in a way, it happened to ChrisRayGun when he started dating that one woman nobody liked from GamerGate and the last I saw of him he was screaming about Kyle Rittenhouse getting a not-guilty verdict. It was pretty clear that Chris was no longer speaking his own mind but pandering to his lefty friends. Old ChrisRayGun would've looked over the case and came to the conclusion that Kyle was acting in self defense, shitty ChrisRayGun just 'knew' Kyle was always guilty because he's a pasty white boy.

I think Wendigoon should take some notes from 372 Pages We'll Never Get Back (which, fun fact, is hosted by Mike from MS3k). Wendi clearly loves reading and likes podcasts where he can joke and banter with people. I think that a book club podcast like 372 where him, a cohost and the audience read a few chapters between each episode then meet to discuss it would be a lot of fun.

This but unironically
I want to take a moment to affirm my original post was also unironic.

New cryptid video just dropped. Barely started watching it, and maybe it's just me but I'm getting the impression he's unironically getting really frustrated over the whole thing. Anyone else feel that?

I finally got around to watching the iceberg videos. I don't think it's soulless, but he's definitely not enjoying himself. The videos are on brand, something he should be interested in, but it's obvious he's not having fun with them.

Take this next part with a grain of salt: Given his weird gaming livestreams while his wife was out of town, I got a weird sense of dejavu from my own first months of marriage. Spending so much time with someone throws your accepted schedule for a loop while you readjust to having a wife that demands a sizeable amount of your attention at all hours that you're home together. I remember navigating the change was uncomfortable as all of my pathetic bachelor habits were overwritten with ones that included my wife. No more gaming sessions till 6 in the morning, no more time to spend literal days delving into a topic to make an autistically long youtube video over a niche book/ story/topic.

That's the vibe I'm getting.

Uzumaki had great visuals, but any meaning was shallow at best. It's not that deep, despite the town sinking into a festering singularity. The snail men haunt my nightmares though.

I really hope Wendi doesn't just suck off Junji Ito the whole video.

That’s a nice though we all thought too.

he did say this wasn’t his favorite story by him

Also a question I had but I’m spoilring it
did the storms ever get explained, why did they save them is inevitably they were just gonna kill them? Why did some of the super natural things seem to save some people like the galaxy lost chapter and the storms?

Dumb luck/ power of love (I'm not kidding) / and the male lead was a survivor of a similar incident in the past, but got out early enough he wasn't trapped by the singularity. There's an argument to be made the singularity followed him so rather than "spared" by the spiral, he was being toyed with. Regardless, he was better able to navigate the encroaching insanity as a result. He even saves the lead girl early on by cutting off her curling hair before her insecurities over it consume her.

That said, I read this a decade ago and might be misremembering.
