Aside from the unfunny jokes that went on too long this was a banger episode.
When I was, shit I don’t remember very young, I genuinely fell for this story (at first) because I know that the forest has weird shit like random walls or a place where things used to be, and so as a child you’re like “checks out, don’t go up stairs in the woods.”
Great story, certified hood classic.
However, I think I read somewhere that the author sold the rights to the story and therefore is unable to publish anything else in the Search And Recuse Woods series.

I did not realize people were paying this much just to hear two dudes read shitty Reddit horror stories.

I'm do not understand why there is such a huge audiance for these two to read random horror stories of varying quality. They don't have top of the line narrating voices, its just average if not less than average in quality. I've tried listening to a few episodes but I cannot get past Wedigoons fucking mic picking up every fucking lip smack, burp, belch and swallow and I find his voice so grating I don't know why. They're not particularly charismatic or intelligent with how they stumble through stories. Have they just lucked into the being the top dogs for youtube horror that has a lot of kids/teens who don't know any better?

Stairs is a great collection, weird to revisit it. I think their first go of it was just fine, because this isn't set up like regular pastas. It's not an actual story, it's a recounting of tales. So it can be discussed as such instead of read through. But that's just me. Funny that they mentioned that David 411 guy being a twat. Cause he is. He also has a habit of exaggerating or leaving details out in order to make ordinary happenings appear more mysterious than they are.

I got in a spat with someone on the breadtube thread over this so I'll say this now. Yes I know that there is left wing horror and that horror is popular. MY POINT is that they ALWAYS give the most leftist interpretation, the problem is always capitalism, Christianity or racism and never with any nuance.

I think you do know and understand why a huge audience would pay exorbitant prices. Same reason people splurge on concert tickets, or really anything they enjoy. I hope you're not revealing that you enjoy nothing, otherwise you would know.

I really do think the reason Creep Cast got so popular is because they actually just have fun.
And in the grim times of “THE DARK REALITY OF BLANK” and “THE HIDDEN LORE OF XYZ” just having some simple fun is in short supply.
Sure, Wendigoon does do that shit but at least he understands that Internet fiction is meant to be enjoyed from time to time. Meat is just a troll, and that serves as a nice contrast to Wedi getting too deep into the analysis even if Meat can get annoying at times with his gay comedy routines.
And keep in mind that in ye olden days of YouTube creepypasta dudes would just read a story, put up a basic gif background, and get tons of views because people just like that content. It’s basic, fun, simple, and by golly we had a nice time listening to Lazy Masquerade or whomever talk about skinwalkers as we played Mount & Blade.

Does he though? I'm no urbanspook fan but at least he was trying something different. I distinctly rember him joining that gay little crusade. When even fucking Baz who is one of the most milquetoast, unbased, trigger warning user, current thing supporter is able to go, "there is different types of horror and you might not be a fan but other people are".

That's the problem with hiding your face as a "celebrity". I understand the desire for anonymity but if you're going to start your career with that, either never show your face at all or if you do do not make a big deal out of it with a OMG FACE REVEAL like video.

Take Wendigoon. He's a goofy ass looking dude, but you don't see people freaking out over it, because he never hid his face and created some kind of mystery around it.

Unless your face is a part of your brand you don't ever need to show your face.
There's no need for any of us here to know his face, only his website and it's mission. Same thing as youtubers, if your job is making list videos or playing videogames, absolutely no need for a face cam.
One youtuber I've been watching for awhile is Pongsifu. I have no idea what he looks like and I've never even thought of it until this discussion. All that matters is his commentary is funny as shit.

I can't even recall all the times I've read statements like "I really used to to like MoistCritikal until I knew what he looked like" because he used to not show his face at all.
It's also why I hate filmed Podcasts. Unless there's a visual aspect to your show you don't need to film that shit. Joe Rogan Experience could not be filmed at all and it wouldn't make much of a difference. Youtubers like filming their podcasts because they're narcissistic and believe it "doesn't count" unless their ugly mugs are plastered all over the fucking product.
I like the Podcasts that feel like radio shows, and I hate the ones that feel like day time talk shows.
