What are some good things to think about while falling asleep? - Stressed kitty seeks modern koans

I can't say I think about too much while falling asleep; usually if I'm struggling I consider it an indication that I didn't do enough that day, or that I don't have anything to look towards in the future. If sleeping gets you closer to something you're looking forward to it's always much, much easier.

Honestly if I have to really bring out the big guns I turn on music I've listened to a number of times (some weirdo who owns a fur suit even made a thread about sleep music), and queue up more after that to the point that I've got like 8 hours worth, so much that even if I got a full night's rest I'd still wake up to it. Hell, put it on a loop.
If you're really against music, you can listen to something like this. It's 22 hours of the Cthulu mythos, and Lovecraft is great at putting people to sleep. You could literally have it on until you needed to get ready to go to sleep the next night.
I like physics shit, or the idea of light and how it has to travel so far for so long to get to where we are (most of those stars you're seeing, the light is ancient. It may have been traveling through space for thousands of years to get to you on any given night) or how the first human being to walk the planet, and all your most distant ancestors, looked up and saw the same moon you are. Or nature in general, how all the plants keep growing no matter what you do. Even if we all died tomorrow it would keep doing its thing.

Ultimately the goal is to remind yourself that things will keep running just fine even if you aren't there.

or you can fantasize about your love life/future (if you aren't a cow)
But aren't we all cows in our own special way?

Imagine the full mechanical operation of something. I generally choose a bolt action rifle, ar15s or disassembly of an engine. Just something simple that you know well and play it over and over and boom, you're going sleep mode in no time.

I never said you couldn't fantasize about a relationship with hatsune miku

Idk, I wish I could help ya, but I'm one of those people who fall asleep 5 minutes after my head touches the pillow.

My chick likes to watch anything familiar but without commercials to fall asleep to. Like shows she's seen 100 times and knows by heart.

Sometimes I hear her shows in my sleep and they start making their way into my dreams.

There's an old documentary I've watched and listened to a bunch of times. I just play it over my headphones, pick a random point in the narrative and fall asleep a few minutes later.

absolutely nothing. If I start thinking before I go to sleep then I will be up until 6am. I watch YouTube. Mad at the internet streams, weird true crime, or one of those “top ten worst McDonald’s items” watch mojo type deals. Nothing toooooo good. It’s Gotta bore you to sleep. Also the key to good nights sleep is when my cat comes and lays on my chest or arms. He’s warm.
