I know, I know, you're not supposed to pick them up, it wasn't me. My grandma brought this thing over. Does anyone know it's species so I know what to do for it?

Maybe. All I know is he's very noisy and has eyebrows. I'm just trying to figure out what this little guy eats for the most part.
Mealworms from a pet store may be your best bet, but you should really try to replace the bird or find the nest it came from. Parents won't reject the bird even if it's been handled by a human, but I think they will abandon a nest if they think their young is gone.

Yes, though grandma brought it over from who knows where. I'd have to ask where she got it.

Sparrow? I live in urban hell so I don't see much more than those, pigeons, robins and starlings. And the occasional catbird.

Best thing to do if you find a baby bird on the ground that doesn't look like it's learning to fly is to just put it back in the nest. That stuff about not touching them is a load of bull. Birds don't care if you touch them.

Birds don't have a great sense of smell so it's not actually your scent that's the problem. It's that the bird may think you are a predator and be scared away from the nest. Although in my experience that's never happened. If anything they can get rather defensive depending on the type of bird.

Look out for mom and dad. If they are looking for the baby then try to put it back in the nest. It looks a bit too young to be ground fed but I don't know the breed. If there's no parents you might have to raise it. You could try a wildlife rehabilitation center if one is near you. But birds this age aren't too hard to keep alive. You can look up baby bird care and see what you have to do. Most birds will figure out flying on their own and leave when they are ready.

It's normal for a lot of types of birds to leave their nest before they're able to fly. This bird has a lot of feathers and appears to be at that stage. If it's able to walk on its own it's fine and probably wasn't in need of help.

looks like a baby house sparrow to me but I don't know depends on where she found it.
