(Warning, I'm gonna be discussing some really horrible shit in here regarding dog deaths. Also edited to remove some powerleveling - kids, don't start threads while stoned)
So my cousin vented over the phone to me about a trashy hardware store in her town. The store manager owns it as a franchise location, and is generally negligent and super late to task with basic store upkeep and employee safety. The most important thing she told me, though, is that the manager also microwaved 14 dogs at his previous job.
It's apparently common knowledge to most of the senior employees. The guy's name is Dave Deplaedt, 52, and he owns both a Canadian Tire and a kennel called Playful Paws, both in the same city. Playful Paws is a dog "care" place that notoriously has broken heaters, shitty ventilation, no proper hygene, and employees just leaving animals alone for 12+ hours. Dave gets informed that one kennel room has a malfunctioning heater that keeps heating the room to 98 degrees and higher while its sensors say "cool", and Dave does nothing. September 2016, he and his employees leave 14 dogs alone in a room for a weekend, and cooks them all to death. Here's the gritty details:
Big Boy Dave got charged about $20,000, and never saw further justice or jail time, even after skipping one of his court dates. We're pretty sure he still owns the business, because it's still open. The fucked thing, too, is that my cousin told me about the Canadian Tire also having malfunctioning heaters and air conditioning, making it too hot in the auto centre and too cold near the cashiers. I guess Dave the Dog Nuker's trying out new game.
So there I am, listening to my cousin freak out about this. Not to sound like a fag, but I think my heart broke for her. What the fuck can we do? The guy's already been processed by the Canadian justice system, so they're not going to do anything else about him, until he gets a human killed this time. I guess what I'm asking is, how do I try and process this? Do you guys have any tips? (Chugging beer until my brain forgets it has already been considered)

"The walls of the box-type kennels — made of thick, high-grade plastic — had warped from the heat. A plumbing and heating company that arrived at 10 a.m. noted the ambient temperature was 37 C. A staff member told investigators, "I couldn't stay there for long. It smelled like pee, poop and death." Another staff member said the dogs "looked like they were melting. Some of them looked like they didn't have eyes."
"An investigation by Saskatoon police and the Saskatoon SPCA determined the dogs died as a result of heat stroke and dehydration. The investigation also found that the dogs had no water and were left unattended overnight. None of the allegations have been proven in court."
The Playful Paws website once stated dogs were under “constant supervision.” After the fatalities, it was changed to read: “Due to the tragic circumstances that have arisen we wanted to clarify that our constant supervision of our pets is only during daycare hours.”
