I'm curious since I've got an eerie feeling about it politically. It's the 250th anniversary of the States, the year of the midterms, and in the middle of a controversial presidential term that's spent its first two months defunding several government agencies, releasing millions of classified documents, doing loud new stuff every single day and generally making the future rather unpredictable.

Personally, however, I think 2026 is going to be a much better year than 2025 has been so far. I've got a big change in direction coming up that might finally let me start focusing on what I enjoy and more free time to start learning about new stuff in the process. A lot of franchises I'm interested in are doing interesting things next year, too, and I feel like 2025 is at the tail end of a transitionary period for entertainment media in general that will finally start shaking out by next year.

The new guy running Syria. I find it humorous that BBC had once criticized Islamist leaders so heavily, and now they are praising him. I'm not fucking Jackson Hinkle or Partisan Girl and I don't like Assad, but he was one of the most secular leaders in the middle east.
