So the rabbi is being 100% serious the edits are people making fun of him. Occasionally in the comments you will find people praising the rabbi and then other Jews just mock them.
Ok so super funny thing. I asked a chabad rabbi about this and he told me that in Lakewood NJ (a place filled with super Orthodox jews). Fiveish (yes that's his name) is the mascot for an organization called Oorah. Oorah does mainly Jewish family outreach (think summer camps, youth trips and organizations, family events etc similar to how Italian catholics will do culture and fundraising but instead of Catholics they're Orthodox jews) and they raise money for these things with auctions where you buy a raffle ticket for $5 and you can win prizes like trips to Israel, home goods, cars, etc. They are really well known for their $5 donation raffle prize thing. oh and the $5 bill mascot is supposed to teach Jewish values through examples.
This is basically Bibleman but Jewish, then?Ok so super funny thing. I asked a chabad rabbi about this and he told me that in Lakewood NJ (a place filled with super Orthodox jews). Now after he told me this I tried to explain how to the outside world this mascot made zero sense and looks like an antisemitic. he could not wrap this around his head, and neither could other members of the congregation.
so in short you have a $5 bill as a mascot. which dresses and acts like an orthodox Jew. and the people who created this and the people who support this put zero thought into how this might look to the outside world and when told about this. refuse to acknowledge it, refuse to change it and think I'M THE WEIRD ONE (who's looking too much into it).
Game over antisemites even the Jews make better characters than you.
here is a video of this $5 bill going into The most conservative Jewish neighborhood in Jerusalem (that is so conservative. they hate zionists because they want Israel to be a religious theocracy) chasing after and then getting chased by those super conservative Jews. enjoy
Yes. Jewish internal media (like the stuff the religious kids consume) can range from interesting to hilarious.Gefilte fish.
