What if the UK abolished the royal family?

Tourism would increase, because of all those lovely palaces that could be converted into hotels owned by the state should they keep hold of them. What Jap or American wouldnt pay to stay in Buckingham Palace?

Politically I think the nation would be far less stable. People may not care about the royals and think them dumb but one ritual and safeguard the brits seem to have amazes me as a foreigner; whenever anything bad happens or the nation is upset, one of the royals gets married, has an ascension ceremony like Charles becoming Prince of Wales etc

And do you know what? It works. Criticism of the government and the royals just evaporates in the wake of good news and suddenly the press are gushing and optimistic all over again.

It also works for more shady purposes; they royals also take over the british front pages when the government is pushing something that might be unpopular through as well...

It would be less chances for the government to hide at least.

As what's being said, not much as their a constitutional monarchy and are pretty much just the equivalent of a mascot now.
I love how British people say this and believe it, but there's a scepter in their Parliament chambers from the Queen that gives them the right to govern the country. The moment the scepter is taken away, it's a one-queen dictatorship.

I'm pretty sure the Queen is the commander-in-chief of their military as well. She may also have a hand in their production of money.

All of you Arabs in the UK, please feel free to correct me.

I kinda wonder if the globohomo supports or against the royal family. On one hand they are a symbol of independence and national uniqueness, on the other hand it's a very powerful elites who also fuck kids so they have a lot in common.

I, as the spokesperson for world faggotry, am here to inform you that the average faggot in the UK (therefore not including myself) form almost the entire audience for Netflix's "The Crown" and are the weird shits who buy the disgusting Crown Derby wedding memorial porcelain kitchenware.

Also, no bullshit, the Royal Family actually possesses one of the best codified and largest collections of Child and Homosexual porn in the world. Lord Mountbatten was killed by the IRA no less for his unrepentant child fucking (and his "collection" of photos is retained in the royal archives) and Queen Victoria was renowned for her..."Passion" for male nudes, especially nudes featuring multiple young men "at play".....Read into that latter what you will; her personal collection is also retained in the archives.

itd turn the english into less cultured frogs. the monarchy, however symbolic and ceremonial it is, is a testament to british history and culture.

get rid of it and what do the english have left? shit food, shit teeth and shit 9 year old northern onaholes

I'm not sure how it could actually happen, since the monarch is also the head of state for all the countries in the commonwealth. If Britain decided to become a republic, would that mean all of the Commonwealth nations become republics by default, or could they maintain the Queen as their head of state regardless?
On a practical level, I have read that the Royal family brings in more tourist dollars (well, pounds I guess) than they cost. Though I don't have the details on hand, so that might be wrong.
On an emotional level, people seem to really love the Queen (especially), and I think William will be quite popular too. Charles most likely will not be King, and I don't think he wants to be. Also, it's a tradition that stretches back 1150 years, and the only period of republicanism brought about Oliver Cromwell.

The English Royal Family has no real power anyway and only still exist because they bring in tourism bucks. They bring in something like $1.5 billion a year in tourism bucks. Why people would go to the UK just for that is beyond me, but they do it
