Why do most jrpg's have a plot about killing god. Why would you even want to kill him? The big man upstairs is just doing his job and just chilling in the clouds, it's not his fault that protag-kuns shitty village burned to the ground and his daddy got killed by a demon army so why pin the blame on him.
It's like blaming the coffee table for stubbing your toe.

It's Shinto. One god goes bad and disrupts the spirit and natural worlds, and heroes, almost always backed by good divine power. The good gods and their warriors fight the bad god and his. Slapping monotheistic names and terms on a Shinto Buddhist structure distorts monotheism, for example a JRPG deity might be patterned after the Biblical G-d, and function in the game story as one of many gods. It's a distortion similar to Engrish, but ... Theorogy.

I played Trials of Mana on the SNES and it's Shinto. Evil beings in the divine realm, players who travel the lands and gain support of the spirits, purify the lands and restore order on earth and in the spirit world.

Aside from the Shin Megami Tensei/Persona series (and possibly FFX depending on your view) I’m struggling to think of that many JRPGs where you kill god. Someone wanna help an old fart out?

Why did you censor God?

Final Fantasy XIII (and its two sequels) are exclusively about finding and defeating God ("Bhunivelze", though he is referred to as both 'God' and the 'God of Light' a few times throughout the games) and defying the fate given by the Gods - this lore then extends outwards in the sequels when it starts bringing 'the Maker' (i.e. the one who created God/the universe etc.)
