So I use unblock origin on my pc but I don't use a AdBlock on my phone so what is the best ad bock for phone and is ublock good for pc or are there better AdBlock's out there?

Phone: Ublock Origin on Firefox.

Desktop: Ublock Origin on Firefox. Plus a local DNS server (Dnsmasq) sending around 210,000 known advertisment and other garbage domains to a local webserver (Apache) which serves all requests with a 4-byte 404 page.

And whenever my phone is on my home WiFi, it then also benefits from that local DNS server.

Phone: Magisk with AdAway (but Blokada and Adguard are perfectly cromulent as well)

Desktop: uBlock Origin

PC: uBlock Origin and SponsorBlock. uBO is still the undisputed king of ad blockers, and SponsorBlock helps out with sponsored segments on YouTube.

Phone: AdAway for host based filtering, Vivaldi for ABP filtering and web browsing, and YouTube Vanced. The reason you want three apps in total is because:
-AdAway is mainly for removing in-app advertisements, it sucks at removing website ads
-Vivaldi is a web browser with ABP filtering, which is designed for websites
-YouTube Vanced blocks ads that AdAway cannot block, plus it has SponsorBlock

Worth noting: get something like oisd for uBlock Origin, AdAway and Vivaldi. That will increase the effectiveness of adblocking.
And if you feel like it, you can get like a Pi Zero W and put Pi-Hole on it. It's more like AdAway but for your whole network, which means it will block general ads and trackers on all of your devices but it will still be a supplement to your main adblocking measures.

Also I generally shill for Vivaldi because I've been a happy user ever since it's early days and I recommend everyone to try it out. Null will still call me a faggot for it though :story:

Is it possible to somehow block ads in the Youtube app?
People here recommended an app called NewPipe a while ago, and it's great. It blocks ads, can play videos in a popup or just play the audio in the background, and has a bunch of other features. It needs to be installed via an APK downloaded from the website, as it isn't on the Play Store.

Necroing the thread to mention that Vanced is dead and has been replaced with Revanced. Use this guide for dummies (actively updated) to streamline the process of installing it and the prerequisites to a bare minimum. I haven't updated my instance of Revanced in a year and it still runs fine despite the consistent updates to it.

As for Blokada, from v5 to v6 it turned into a paid model. It seems that they abandoned work on the past free version(A) despite promises and people are pointing fingers at them not introducing certain fixes to the builds, acting shady etc., all from just a light browsing of their forums. Thoughts from anyone actively using it?
