1. How important is it to find quiet for the mind?
It depends if the mind is talking bollocks or not. If it is, then very. If it isn't, then it is very important to listen.

2. How do you do it?
Think, Walk, exercise, read, travel...There are many ways to skin a cat.

3. What happens if you don't do it?
I think up and imagine some crazy stuff. Usually ending with a new conspiracy or bat-shit crazy invention.

1) Rather important. You have to have a sound mind to live in a manner that facilitates happiness.

2) Mostly by doing some sort of coding, reading math and physics textbooks, philosophy books or spiritual books like that of St. Therese of Lisieux. I also exercise by lifing weights and going on walks/runs/jogs for a couple miles in addition to listening to Rush a lot and short stints prayer throughout the day and if the occasion calls, releasing that pressure valve most men have to pictures of attractive women. Yes I am not proud of it, but when all the other methods don't work, I know the problem and how to solve it. Plus, I try to keep it somewhat tasteful and onlt do the deed to pinups. Yes I know TMI. But I'm not going to lie. I'm just your average dude with your average dude needs for a woman.

3) I get very anxious and my mind just whirls. My thoughts aren't very coherent and I tend to be overwhelmed by little things. That's why mental and spiritual homeostasis is important.

I like the "thoughts are not me" technique, learning to observe your mind from the outside. I guess it's a form of meditation.

One of the first things I do is turn off the PC, thus disconnecting from the internet. Sometimes I'll even literally go outside.

The rest just kinda comes naturally after that.

1. It depends. I'm fairly apathetic as of late and I've never been intensely opinionated outside of something that really passes me off. Even then, my main response I'd to just leave and go somewhere else.

2.t depends on what's bothering me. I might pray if I'm in a shitty mood and want to bitch about life, meditate if I want to focus on a task, music to calm my nerves and masturbate for sleep.

3. I'll tend to troubleshoot until I feel secure or I end up stuck in a rut. I tend to not be too easily stressed but if I get in a long enough streak of bad luck over the course of several months, I'll basically just shut down and sit things out for a while. I never asked for a life with stress and I just don't see it as being worth anything.

It's not something I really think about. I'm not particularly bothered by the contents or workings of my own mind.

Why is “bingeing on comfort foods” not an option in the poll? Cause I completely do this from time to time

I do this, but rarely. I find it actually helps very little in quieting the mind and if I indulge, I'd get fatter.

How important?
Very.

How do?
It varies.

What happens if don't?
Insomnia and anxiety.

Dear FBI,

1. How important is it to find quiet for the mind?
Used to be important since I couldn't fall asleep for hours. Now it's OK unless I consume a lot of caffeine.

2. How do you do it?
There's a book called "Mindfullness", got it reccomended by the practicing therapist. You can skip the theory and go stratight to practice. The breathing / taking observer's position regarding your own mind helped. Actually, there are a lot of methods. Imo it's way better than swallowing pills.

3. What happens if you don't do it?
See above.

Jacking off helps, post-nut clarity is a thing, so does fucking a whore or bar skank for much the same reason, breathing exercises (I don't know if this can be considered meditation or not) help, just taking a few deep breaths and relaxing for about 10 minutes is good for your physical health while also helping you to more easily relax your brain and engage in self-reflection. Listening to music that you like can also be useful for meditating and self-reflective purposes.

If you don't do this stuff, I'd say the main consequence would be more stress and that in turn leads to poorer physical health. Constant worry is bad for the body and brain.
